Setting: vatheon | Just how great is the Lord?

[ ... He was insane. That was the conclusion he came to after this week's curse. Insane for even thinking about this. And frankly, he needed it just as much... picking up the SFC, he dials Aziraphale.

Yes, they had only just switched back, but--but being back in his body... he had so many questions. Questions no one else (he felt) could answer. ]

[ The SFC goes off and Aziraphale moves to answer it without even thinking about who it could be. He presses the button, lifting it to his ear with a soft smile - as though he were actually face-to-face with the person. Just as he was about to say the standard greeting, however, the voice spoke and he almost sucked in a breath he didn't need.

After a moments pause, he replies. ]

Hello, Naoya. May I help you?

[ ... How can he say this? He can't say this over the SFC, he just--he can't. He can hardly say it now. Or think it.

This is ridiculous. ]

... It would appear we are in our proper bodies.

[ Aziraphale is confused, but he doesn't let it show. Instead he maintains his jovial attitude. ]

Yes, it certainly seems so. I cannot argue - I've grown rather fond of this body, despite the slight setbacks.

[ ... Guhhh. He can't do this. He can't even get the words out--he hasn't had nearly enough sake. ]

... It's still tiring. Yoshiya threw out half my clothes. I've got nearly nothing.

[ Sigh. ]

I--cannot say I disagree, but rather that... I've grown somewhat fond of this one.

[ Annnd he accidentally flicks the video on. It seems like he hasn't really been paying much attention to anything. Is--is he drinking? Yes, he's been drinking. There is a long, painful pause, and... ]

How... are your injuries?

Well, that certainly wasn't very sporting of him. I'll make sure to have a word - I'm quite sure your wardrobe was none of his business.

[ Aziraphale watches as the video flicks on and then he reaches out, flicking on his own. He looks a lot better - it seems that Crowley suffered through the remains of the pain from the wounds so he's just feeling a little sore. ]

... They've healed rather nicely, thank you for asking.

HE FEELS SO BAD ZIRA. he'd probably go over and heal you first_scorned October 19 2010, 14:52:00 UTC
I... see.

[ SO REMEMBER THAT THING HE COULDN'T ASK BEFORE--oh god he wants to bang his head on the table right now for even considering asking this, maybe until he dies. Be right back finishing this entire bottle.

Yes, it takes sake to make him actually gain the courage to even ask this. ]

I... have a query. I'm... fairly certain only you can answer this.

[ Aziraphale looks surprised before he smiles softly, leaning back in his chair so that he's a little more comfortable. ]

Oh, do feel free to ask. I'll be happy to answer if I can.

[ ... You are making this incredibly painful, Aziraphale. You do know how hard this is to even ask, right? ]

... Anything. I just...

[ Breathing. Breathe, Naoya. ]

Benevolent divinity. ... It's an impossible concept to me, ironic as it is.

God, to me, Naoya, is love. He is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; he is the embodiment of all that is good and kind and blessed in the world. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." God does not give up on people, but humans give up on him. His love is not conditional; He doesn't love us because we're lovable or because we make Him feel good; He loves us because He is love. He created us to have a loving relationship with Him, and He sacrificed His own son to restore that relationship.

[ Aziraphale breathes softly. He feels so close to the Father all of the time and expressing it is so... Wonderful. ]

Demons... Demons are merely fallen Angels - those who had rebelled against the Father and Fall from Grace. Angels do not need faith as they already have the knowledge the celestial, which means their action constitutes unforgivable sin. Even so, the Lord's word says there is a chance for redemption for them.

[ ... He just kind of smiles, Aziraphale, because... your prattling on is somewhat amusing and maybe it's the alcohol, but... ]

How ironic. That God would love His creations.

[ And a hand to his face, so he can hide his forced smile at this. ]
... Hah. I suppose then that the God you think of wouldn't install His army into human affairs...

Granted, I'm rather sure we're all going to have some sort of horrific change either way. ... I think He tired of us wasting our lives... redemption is not a notion that exists in my reality.

Ah.

[ The fact that redemption doesn't exist for Noaya burns him. Everyone has the chance to pay penance, to redeem themselves and be welcomed back into the Lord's embrace. To be denied that is something the angel cannot even imagine. ]

The last time the Lord allowed His angels to install themselves was - ah - [he looks quite sheepish now ] when Crowley and I decided it would be best to stop the apocalypse.

... So those ridiculous legends from the book are true.

[ He laughs. ] ... Unsurprising, He'd get sick of us. I take it you were successful if you say you stopped it? No wonder he told my brother the position of Antichrist "was taken".

[ He's... amused Crowley would even think of Abel as that. Then again, that had been Naoya's aim; a cherished son of light to be made a heathen of darkness would make God angrier than ANYTHING else. ]
