Gram was trying to call Germany this morning and the call would not go through. She was very frustrated so I called AT&T for her. I was given a bit of the round about but it was amusing non the less.
Me: I'm helping my grandmother, she is trying to call Germany but the call won't go through
Them: What is the number?
Me: ::recites long number::
Them: Where is she trying to call?
Me: :: looking at Long German word with befuzzlement:: Klienrenfielden
Gram: ::gives correct pronunciation::
Me: I repeat the word to the best of my abilities
Them: How do you spell that?
Me: I rattle off the spelling as written in the address book
Them: We don't have that, what is the nearest big town?
Me: :::asking Gram:::
Gram: ::as though it is obvious and everyone should know:: It's just North of ::insert German word that starts with a B::
Me: It's just north of :: said actual town:: Busibebausdfenld
This conversation is repeated another 3 times as I am transferred and it goes exactly like the time before only with each time I deliver the last time I get a little more sarcastic in my delivery as if to say it's obvious we should know this!
I had gram on speaker phone so they probably could hear her anyways and with each time I had to say a German town I am thinking to myself "You act like you have some clue as to what I am saying but you are as lost as I am"
We finally get it all figured out and as it turns out she is missing a number! She has the country code and it ends in a 6 as does the first number of the telephone number... Problem Solves :)
They connect me to Germany but I don't hand gram the phone in time so a sweet old lady answers in German. I panic and blurt out "Guten Tag" and "Un Momento Por Favor" as I quickly hand the phone over to Gram and burst into laughter as it occurs to me that I just went from German to Spanish
