I have no doubts She will win in the end. There is no fury like that of a Mother whose young are wronged, and we are wronging her children day by day. People are shocked when things like Hurricanes and Tornadoes rip through states and neighborhoods that have previously been left untouched. It always amazes me how people will study ecosystems and observe how little changes can have a big impact, and yet no one seems to open those studies up to a broader scale and realize it's very much true on this whole planet. We need to get away from seeing ourselves as removed from the rest of the planet because everything we do has an effect.
Am I journalist... now that's an interesting question. In my last two jobs, I have been working in the journalism field. However, I'm not a trained journalist. I never learned the proper way to conduct an interview or write a news story. I cling to the fact that my writing is solid and lyrical and rely on my personality to make interviews go smoothly. The truth is, sometimes I'm terrified to see my name in print. But this is also something that has been on my brain -- changing my career direction. Originally, I assumed I would end up working for a publication somewhere while writing stories and poetry freelance. In the past year, I've begun considering writing for environmental publications --a challenge, because I have no experience in environmental issues whatsoever. I've also considered going back to school and getting a masters in Environmental Science. Or Biology. Or Botany. I don't have the money right now, but it's on my list of things to think about. And I have been. Thinking hard.
I have a lot to learn.
And yes, I do often times think I'm crazy. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing though. Moo back at you... are you calling me a quail?

quail... they have this wave-like call, that crests and falls -- it's one of my favorite sounds in the whole world. coo-COO-coo. Oh, and just an FYI: I'm still cross-posting entries on my xanga, they're just listed under "protected posts" from now on.

no, the cactus wren has this chatty, rapid-fire chirp, as if they're constantly scolding you for something. There are a few other types of wrens -- rock wrens and canyon wrens, that have more melodic chirps and songs.
