because i'm still on Simoun fever, i shall dedicate another post to it. in this post i shall discuss about Simoun media other than the anime. there are two versions of the manga, one that follows the anime storyline more closely and another which is more of a parody version. but both are official. then there are the OST's. two of them. and then there's even a drama CD.
first up, manga. the first version sticks closer to the anime storyline.
when i first read the manga, which was couple of years ago, i didn't quite like it. the story seemed complicated and just when things should start, the manga ends. it's only a single volume that seemed to prequel future events. except that said future events does not take place and readers have to settle with what they got. and unlike the anime's huge cast, only a few characters appear in the manga. Neviril, Aaeru, Paraietta, Mamiina, Rodoreamon, Amuria and Wapourif. the art was also not to my liking. the characters appear really kiddy...
well, the anime takes after this manga, so i guess from here to story was further explored and more characters were added.
next, the parody manga version.
this is a parody, so many of the concepts have been changed, as showned in the pic on the left. when read as a parody, it's actually pretty funny. but of course, when compared to the actual Simoun then this is third rate. the characters that appear here are Aaeru, Neviril, Paraietta, Kaim, Limone, Floe and Amuria was mentioned. but it's just the first chap so probably there might be more later on. i'll just say that when read as a parody, this is enjoyable.
Simoun has two OST's, because there is a lot of good music.
OST 1 on the left and OST 2 on the right. speaking of which, isn't the cover for OST 2 just lovely? it's pure gold. absolutely pure gold. this totally makes up for that stupid damn lucky steel wall. ^^
anyway, taken from wikipedia,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simoun_OST_1, this is the tracks list for OST 1.

http://www.geocities.jp/emiri_0623/character-settings.htm okay. so after all that, my favs from both OST's are........everything. lol. they're all good. i can't name a fav. though i do particular like Rodoreamon "Tsubasa no Komoriuta". it's the song that Rodoreamon sings in the anime. i'll just post some pics of the booklet pages.
kiss fest. from OST 1 booklet. also included are explanation for all the terms in Simoun.
Aaeru and Neviril's profiles from OST 2 booklet. there are also profiles for the other Chor Tempest members and an interview with the sound directors.
next up, drama CD. frankly, i'm surprised that Simoun has a drama CD. but i'm not complaining. no, not complaining at all. so anyway, here's the cover.
i only understand very simple and very little japanese, so i got most the gist of what this drama cd is talking about from Okazu,
http://okazu.blogspot.com/2007/03/yuri-drama-cd-simoun-uruwashii-no-haken.html. go there to get a gist of it. what really saddens me is that not all the cast appear in this drama CD. only Aaeru, Neviril, Paraietta, Kaim, Limone, Mamiina, Rodoreamon and Onashia(cameo) are featured. that's like, half of Chor Tempest. but anyway, listening to this drama CD was really fun. at times even though i had no idea what they were saying, but when they laughed i laughed along. and ah, it's just so good to hear their voices for some reason. one thing i realized when listening to this is that although i don't really like Paraietta, i do love her voice. so that'll be saying i like Koshimizu Ami's voice.i'll do a post on my fav seiyuu's someday.
