i don't think i can get away without writing about this. um, i created this journal first and foremost because i wanted an outlet to post about Lena Headey, but that doesn't mean i can't post about anything else. this page is called 'randomness & obsessions' after all. Lena is my current obsession, but if i have any other obsession besides her at the same time, i should be able to post about it too. i have no idea why i'm justifying what i post....guilt, yea. eh-heh ^^
so anyway, i have always been and apparently still very much in love with the realm i came from, so i shall now create another tag where all post regarding this will go under. and that realm is anime/manga! yup yup, i'm an anime and manga lover before a tv series lover. my first exposure is when i was 13-14. i went to a friend's house in order to work on a project together with a bunch of others. there, another friend who just loves Japanese culture happened to have with her a manga. at one point of the project, i got bored and asked to read the manga just to pass the time. there was no turning back from there. lol. i didn't even want to turn back. the realm of anime/manga seemed infinite in its possibilities. there's no limitation. one can find all sorts of things there. and i very well did.
to just chronicle my progression and changes, i started out liking yaoi/shounen-ai(boys love) pairings. that was because the first anime/manga i was exposed to was Gundam Wing, where the ratio of male characters to female characters are higher. and they all happen to be impossibly good looking. one is good? two better. that was how i thought before. but after i watched and read more anime/manga, my preferences changed to straight pairings. it stayed like that for a while until somewhere when i was about 15-16, i caught a tv advertisment for an anime showing on my local anime channel, Animax. i will never forget how i felt when i saw that ad. breathless. i never took my eyes off the screen for even a second. that ad happens to be for the anime called Maria-sama ga Miteru, an anime that chronicles around the lives of a group of high school girls and their relationships with each other. it wasn't really explicit, but it was decidedly somewhat yuri/shoujo-ai(girls love) by its fanbase anyway. so that is how my likings went to yuri. and it's still there today.
.....which eventually spawned to femslash outside the realm of anime/manga. um, so yes, that is how i got into anime/manga. i can go on and on about this, so i'll leave it to indivudual posts that are specific.
obsessions,
