I've been spending a lot of time listening to Rancid's Life Won't Wait. I originally hated the album. I don't know why. Maybe because it wasn't ...And Out Come the Wolves.
That's because it was something different. I hate change. Maybe it was the articles written about this album... that they wrote all the songs in the studio.
After 10 years, I finally appreciate this album. The sound was more mature, more thought out. It lacked the raw energy of their previous album. But that's a good thing. Instead of making ...And Out Come the Wolves II, they rethought the band, and made something worth listening to.
And I'm happy for that.
I've spent a lot of time in my life listening to Rancid. I can easily say that they are one of the bands that has directly influenced my life, filling the gap that one notable band had left behind.
The album I hated for so long because it wasn't the same turns out to be one of the most wonderfully written albums I own.
