A Blue and White Weekend

Friday was the Pep Rally at school, which is so great although at the same time it's the most annoying part of living at Whitesboro. The fact that they hold a pep rally for only one team (the football team) kinda sucks. Especially since it's manditory...but what do you want? I only remember one other pep rally for a different sport, and that was for ice hockey when our team was state champs two years ago (I think it was two years ago). Anyway, I got the Eb and all of the periods were 6 minutes shorter so all in all, Friday was a good deal, even if it was essentially 18 hours of running around.

It's nice to know that Puckey wanted our final Pep Rally to be a bang. He was in charge of the Senior class, and even though they made a ruckus of the rally and were loud and funny, I was still glad I was in Pep Band and not really assiociated with my "peers" (aka the football team). They were chanting all sorts of stuff, but most noteably was when we played "Rock 'n Roll" in the beginning of the rally and in the "hey" part of they song they all chanted "Hey! Give Us Back Our Troll!" Puckey and his damn troll madness. He actually got yelled at by Woodcock for that, believe it or not. "Is this troll business on the up and up?" I think of Jimmy whenever I hear the word "troll" and it makes me laugh. :)

Anyway, rather than all of the sport team captains making boring speeches about how great their team is that you can't even understand anyway because the mic is messed up, a few kids (mainly those who have Puckey) said some funny things. But the best was Schmidt's speech for the football team. Picture this, if you may. It was something along these lines:

"I have a story. There was this guy, and there was this dog. And the dog kept biting this guy's ankle. So of course, the guy tried to shove him away, and ended up kicking his foot. The dog went flying and hit a wall. But the dog got back up again, and sure enough, went right back to biting the guy's ankle. So he shoved him away again, and again he hit the wall. The dog kept on getting right back up, and the guy respected him for this, but in the end, we all knew how that dog died. The moral of the story: the Bulldogs will keep getting up tonight, but as much as we respect them, we ain't gonna feel bad about throwing them against the wall." ::shrieks and applause::

I hate my school for crap like that. The entire woodwind section of the Pep Band (yes, all four of us) were laughing at this, and I turned to Petty and he was like, "Wow, I'm forever changed after that speech. I'll never be the same." Petty actually succeded in making a funny joke. Bless him! :)

So yeah, I basically missed the senior/cheerleader dance, which I did want to see...I knew it would give me a source of interesting material, but, oh well...

The parade went on without much of a hitch. Mom went to Massachusetts for Friday night, all of Saturday and came back Sunday afternoon, so she dropped me and Rita off at the parade. Our float was by far the worst one. It was a mass of brown crape paper that said "BBQ the Bulldogs." I'm so proud. The senior float always wins, but (ha) guess what? The juniors one. ;) Way to go Rita. :) We won "Best Spirit" or something like that. :) More like "Nice Effort, but you know you lost."

We got to drive around in a large flatbed, whose floor was basically a giant mass of rust. I was so afraid we were going to fall through it while the parade was in motion and just knew that if we did the cheerleaders behind us would have died laughing rather than feel sorry. But, I shouldn't really care about that, since I always crack up when they drop one of their beloved brethren. Let's just hope their IQ doesn't drop when they do that...then Whitesboro'd really be in trouble.

But seriously, after almost being killed due to choking on my mouthpiece everytime the truck stopped, the parade went well...The game was normal. We won 44 to 14 vs Nottingham. Apparently we are undefeated...we have one more away game this week, and then one more homegame...

It didn't really hit me till later that it was my last homecoming as a high school student...::tear::

Friday night they had a biography on Jimmy...it was a lot of homevideo stuff and interviews with his parents and his sister. But what caught my attention was he said he played the clarinet! Coincidence! He said, "You can't really jam when you play the clarinet. You be like, 'You guys know any Benny Goodman? Let's go!' and everyone looks at you like, 'Benny Goodman?'" I was on the floor!

The SNL premire was Saturday night, host Ben Affleck and musical guest Nelly. I was so dissapointed. Other than the debate sketch (which was drawn out and was the butt of 80% of the jokes in the episode), and Alec Baldwin turning up in the monologue, the episode sucked. I adore Amy Poehler, she's so funny, but they're already overusing her. She's the new host of Update with Tina, and it's just werid
without Jimmy there:
Amy: ::background on how this guy in the Middle East married this infertile girl just to steal her kidney and divorce her:: That's just rude!
Tina: Yeah, I know! That's totally what Jimmy did to me!
Amy: You're kidding!
Tina: No! But I think this is gonna work out, between me and you. It's a cool vibe we got going, like that movie 'Monster.'
Amy: (deer in headlights) Are...are you gonna kill me?
Tina: (laughs) No! I'm going to kill other people and you're going to be my girlfriend!
Amy: Oh! Cool!

Yeah it just wasn't the same without him there. Horatio did a commentary as Elton John (which normally cracks me up) and it did manage to make me smile, but they killed it when they had to mention Jimmy again. There was a Debbie Downer sketch, which wasn't nearly as funny as the first one because no one broke character. There was this psedo funny escalator sketch, and the guy who plays Tony Soprano came on during Update as a "sterotypical random anonamous New Jersey resident" who talked about the former New Jeresy governor resigning because he was gay. But overall, Amy was used too much, Horatio looks lost and Rachel and Maya's good talent is being put to waste. BRING BACK JIMMY!

He's movie is coming out this Friday and Queen Latifah is hosting this Sat to promote it, so I'm crossing my fingers that he'll show up in a cameo. That's all I ask, Lorne! THAT'S ALL! THEN I PROMISE I WON'T COMPLAIN ANYMORE!

rants, high school
