Posting instructions
June is almost here, and lgbtq_recs will start posting on Monday!
Thanks to everyone for signing up again this year. We have both first-time and veteran reccers this year, so I'll post some instructions here. The key thing to remember is this: our goal is rec something fun every weekday through June and keep things low-key for everyone--including you, the reccer.
Reminders. Each week on Sunday, I'll send a reminder to everyone scheduled to rec during the following five days. Because life is busy and things fall through the cracks, I'll also send one reminder if you miss your day. In which case, you can just jump back on board and post! Or not. If it turns out you can't do it, that's fine, too.
Guidelines. Generally, folks recommend one item per post with a bit of description--anything from a few sentences to a few hundred words about why they enjoyed the item or why they would recommend it to a friend. If you want, you can also provide an image and/or a link to other reviews or to places where the item can be viewed or ordered. But that's optional.
The fine print. Please:
1) Format your subject line so that it reads: Media type: Title (where "media type" refers to book, movie, graphic novel, etc.)
2) Add a media type tag (or I can do this for you, after it goes up)
3) Use an LJ-cut if the rec gets long-ish.
There are no constraints on what you rec, but please avoid conflicts of interest (reccing something you or a close friend created) and help maintain an atmosphere of mutual respect at the comm.
Still not decided? If you're still contemplating what to rec, remember that we'd always love to see more recs involving characters of color or characters from outside North America and Europe; trans themes; bi themes; and media that deal with themes of class and ability/disability. Oh! And different types of media. (Books and movies are always popular, but we'd love to hear about podcasts or blogs or other fun stuff, too.)
