Thank you so much for your "research report" on this question; it is something I am going to dig into myself... I am curious what I will find in Germany, if it is different or the same as in the States... and I am even more curious if I will ever come across or dare to press for an open discussion somewhere in my catholic diocese...
I'm glad you found it useful! Good luck with your exploration, and especially with trying to open dialog.
There's an organization in the U.S. for GLBTQ Catholics - you may know about it already? Dignity USA. I tried to search for a similar organization in Germany, but I don't know German so I was only using English search terms.
Thank you for the link to 'Dignity USA'; the article about the recent survey they linked on the site just totally made my day :-)) ... though I am afraid the numbers in Germany would be different still ... but usually we do follow the 'US-lead' after a while;
Thanks for the rec and for the excerpt from the introduction. That second paragraph in particular resonates with me: it's a concise, cogent description of an attitude I've found in quite a few ostensibly "tolerant" institutions and people.
Thanks for the lovely rec! I'm not religious myself, but several close friends are, and they really struggle with this issue. I'll pass along the title. M.
Oh, thank you for this rec. It sounds like something I will have to get my hands on. Every now and then I think I have a handle on negotiating being queer and Catholic, and then something throws me for a loop.
