The business office at my home ISP is going to get a very upset call on Tuesday. It'll probably go something like this:
LF - Why has my net connection been disconnected?
ISP - Because you haven't paid your bills.
LF - Really?
ISP - Really. But we can reinstate you for [obscene sum].
LF - Well, you will reinstate me, but I'm not going to pay for it. In fact, you're going to put a credit on my account.
ISP - You haven't paid your bills.
LF - Well, see, I have a whole stack of cashed checks that say I have. Care to see them?
In the meantime, I'm taking the laptop out of the house to a wi-fi spot about once a day. Otherwise, I'm kinda stuck offline for the Memorial Day weekend.
But it could be worse. The bright side of this is that I don't have to deal with one of the temptations that keeps me from writing...and it's showing.
