Title: Opening Night
Fandom: La Femme Nikita
Characters: Original Character, Madeline
Length: 100 words
Rating: G
Author's Note:Set during the pilot episode, "Nikita". For sk56 whose long-ago comment to me about a furniture store she knew with the same name as one of my LFN stories will never, ever leave my heart. *hugs you* This is quite possibly the most obscure drabble I have ever written, but if only one person realises what canon scene this is and that person is you, then I will be very, very happy. Happy birthday, you fabulously quirky girl.

“Target is on site.”

Wiping the sweat out of her eyes, she nods at the Level Three Op breathing down her neck. Her gut is churning coldly, her mouth dry. Stage fright, she thinks. Three years as a hard-working special effects lackey in the real world should mean she can orchestrate a fake traffic accident with one arm tied behind her back, right?

“It’s a trap!”

Wrong.

Three hours later, she tries to apologise for the unforgiveable. “I’m sorry. My best obviously isn’t good enough.”

“No.” In the real world, Madeline’s smile would be a thing of beauty. “It isn’t.”
