Circuit 19 [Progress?] (Audio//English)

Jun 10, 2010 22:38

[The comm clicks on, with no voice for a moment, as if the person is fumbling. And then Rfena speaks.]

Jinx, how is your progress with the arm coming? I would like to see, even if you're not done.

[He might not keep working, if she can tell the technology is incompatible.]

And... Vash? I heard you had returned. [Possibly dead.] How are you doing?

.....

Already? Ya, can't be serious, Sweetheart. Th' types a' materials an' tools that I need fer yer type a' technology aren't available here.

[He pauses to glance at the unfinished arm.]

Actually, th' last time I've seen anythin' close ta' what I could use was back in Haven.

If they are not available here, logically one would assume they won't show up again.

[She's not disappointed just... curious.]

Do you think you can fashion one, or would it be hard to produce an arm of satisfactory use on the boat?

Well...it's not that they aren't available here, it's just that I haven't seen any around. Even in th' luggage.

I could make ya' a temporary one from th' one I already got started, but I don't think it'll last too long from th' signals that 'll be passin' through it. I could make ya' a new one every once in a while, though.

Needing a new arm every so often could be... troublesome. I have heard the ships doctor or engineer can fashion arms if they need to.

I would like to come look at your arm at least. If you could fashion one to use in the interim for now, that would be lovely.

Got it, Sweetheart. Just come whenever yer ready. Door's open.

[She will find Jinx sitting at his desk, a screwdriver in his mouth, tinkering with a very well made arm. He's a bit upset that something so well made isn't going to work out. The arm looks a bit like This ]

Thank you. I will be there momentarily.

[And a few minutes later there she is. She knocks once before entering, approaching Jinx.

She takes a moment to take stock of the arm.]

That is quite well made. [Maybe not as good as her technology, but if not for the fact it won't hold up long, she'd stick with it rather than the crew-arm.]

[Jinx doesn't move when Rfena approaches. He seems to be talking to the arm.]

Thanks. I just hoe it'll hold up long enough fer ya'. I think that I should install this baby. Th' open wires are a bit sensitive ta' abrasion an' I don't want all this hard work ta' go ta' waste.

[That's fine, she's a bit acquainted with eccentricities at this point.

She moves to sit near him, already working on pulling out the wires she'd tucked into the cavity.]

I can assist in connecting each pertinent wire. And I will endeavor to protect it while I am using it.

And I will contact the crew as soon as I can.

That'd be great, just match 'em to the colors here an' I'll close 'em up.

[He positions the arm next to Rfena then pulls out his lighter.

He glances up to his patient.]

Hey, it's th' closest thing I can get ta' a solder 'round here.

[She does as he asks, and then does a double take at the lighter. Fortunately, she smiles after a moment, and reaches into a jacket pocket to take out a solder; a jimmy-togethered one, but a solder all the same, and hands it to him.]

I thought this might come in handy. It's a gift from a friend who isn't here anymore, but you'll probably find use in it.

Thanks, now ya' won't have ta' worry bout settin' ya' on fire er anythin'.

[He replaces the lighter and grabs the solder. It actually looks pretty damn well made for being homemade.]

Do ya' feel pain, Kid?

[He touches the first set of wires together and expects Rfena to mimic him.]

I would prefer to remain unburnt, yes.

[She puts the other wire to the end, waiting for him to start.]

I do not feel pain in the classic sense. It registers on my senses as damage, but it does not 'hurt' and will not stop me from moving. I can, however, mimic a pain reaction.

[He turns the solder on and touches it to his end of the wire to melt is slightly. He quickly moves it to Rfena's wire to solidify. One down, just a few more and Ref'll be good to go.]

So ya' found someone that can make suitable arms fer ya'?

[He starts on the next one, whether she is ready or not.]

[She's ready, thankfully, and holds the next wire.]

Not yet. But the crew has repaired organic arms, and damage to cyborgs, so... It stands to reason that asking them will at least be a good choice.

[He merges the last two wires before rolling them in his fingertips to ensure security. Then he looked to his desk for the bolts he had found.]

Ya' sure ya' don't mind if I bolt this inta ya'?

[There's really no turning back now. He already has his drill out.]

[She nods after a moment.]

Bolting should be fine. There are no vital systems located at the junction.
