Do any of you have memories you cherish from childhood? Or memories that, while maybe not considered 'good', stand out in your mind?

Additionally... have you ever revisited something you've enjoyed as a child and found it less than satisfying?

My grandmother telling me stories.

And - well it was only a year ago, but I don't think I'll ever forget the storm...

The storm?

[Curiousness.]

Yeah, it... It wasn't a normal storm.

[She laughs a little uncertainly, because that is the understatement of the year.]

It destroyed everything.

Destroyed everything... that must have been hard.

[she's picturing something like a tornado.]

It was to start with. But it was much harder for others than it was for me.

What happened during the storm, if I may ask? What was lost, and such...

Well... The whole island was swallowed by darkness. Most of the people, our homes...

The people who survived were scattered across many worlds. I don't remember it actually happening though. I... Heh. I guess you could say I found somewhere safe.

Swallowed by... darkness? It wasn't a normal storm, I take it?

[And then, different worlds? Oh definitely not a normal storm.]

At least you were not killed... and those who survived weren't as well. It is a small mercy, at the very least?

No, it really wasn't a normal storm. So nobody was really killed. My friends put it right again. They brought back all the worlds that had disappeared that way.

It's just not something you forget, that's all.

What about you? There must be things that stand out in your mind that way.

At least everything was fixed... or as fixed as it could be.

[Reffy pauses. That's.. a loaded question because she never, well, had a childhood. But she wants to be honest.]

I... when I left my parents house. They didn't want me to go, so I had to leave without telling anyone. It was... hard on me. I couldn't contact them again after that... things were.. are complicated.

Yeah. It's not all fixed yet. And now that I'm here, I'm not sure what will happen. But most people don't even remember that they disappeared. They're safe that way, I guess. So it's better that way.

[If Rfena's pauses are any indication, Kairi realizes, she's getting a simplified version of things. But then, isn't that what complication needs?]

You must miss them.

But at least you have good memories of them, right?

That sounds complicated as well.

[Kairi's getting a super-simplified, small-white-lie version of what happened. But it's close enough to the truth that Reffy feels comfortable with it.]

I miss them. [She misses her friend, mostly, but it's the same in her mind.] Very much so. And I do have some good memories to hold onto.
