[AUDIO 6 - ENGLISH] important info

Sep 30, 2009 19:28

[The comm comes on, but there's no immediate voice. If you listen closely, you'll hear the sound of the Deck 11 fire nearby. After a moment of this, Rfena speaks.]

When you know what you're seeing isn't what's really there, does it really matter what you do? Or does anything you do even have a point?

Shockwave, Mikaela... Kevas, Shilo, Ironhide. I ( Read more... )

[Shockwave's comm is on, mostly because he actually forgot to turn it off. Unsurprisingly, the sound of his door slamming can be heard, along with him... muttering to himself.

He'll be here shortly, Rfena~]

[Rfena's holding her comm, sitting cross legged with her back against a wall near the fire. She doesn't look very happy at the moment, because she's feeling very hopeless about their situation.

She looks up when she hears him coming, and attempts a smile. It fails epically.]

Hey.

[He sits down next to her - on his knees rather than cross-legged. He puts one servo on her shoulder, voice hushed.]

Rfena. Whatever you heard has... upset you. What did they tell you?

[The reassurance is nice, even if she doesn't react to it. She lets out a breath of air and looks at her comm, pursing her lips.]

I asked... what they see when they look at the ship. She couldn't tell me directly, but they don't see what we see. She implied that the captain is using some kind of illusion on us.

So how can we be sure anything we do here is going to get us anywhere, Shockwave?

[She doesn't like being lied to and deceived, and doesn't like not being able to trust her eyes.]

Illusions...

[He shifts, settling his aft against his heel spurs as he thinks, antennae rotated forward. He's just as bothered by that; he lives on truth, on people's secrets. He doesn't like the idea that he can't trust what he sees with his own optic.]

We cannot be certain of that. And we cannot be certain that what we see is the truth. However, I believe... if we can see it, if we can touch it and interact with it here, then it is the closest to the truth that we can come to now.

[She listens. It actually makes some sense to her - Meth never said that she wasn't able to interact with the real environment, just that she wouldn't know what she was interacting with.

Rfena still doesn't like not being able to trust her eyes though.]

...It might be a matter of perception. She never said that what we touch was a lie, just what we see it as.

Even if that's true though, why hide it from us? [She still looks miserable.]

[He twitches his antennae, considering if he should actually postulate on that.]

To keep it from melting our processors, perhaps. Twice before you arrived, I have seen... creatures on this ship. Things that by rights ought not exist, that disturbed all those present.

Those creatures might be a mild portion of what the Captain has hidden from us.

[She really wants to ask about the creatures, but she can wait.]

Or what if the creatures were the illusion, hiding something else? [She sighs again.] I know, I should work with the input I have, but I don't like it. It makes me second- and third-guess everything.

Hiding it for our own good, maybe. Or for some other reason.

What were the ...creatures like? If you don't mind me asking.

I am uncertain what mind could devise such... abominations. [The word is uttered with more disgust than when he even talks about the Autobots he knew before.]

The second may have been a hallucination, a side-effect of... whatever the cook had put into the food that forced me into Ironhide's body. But the first creatures I remember clearly. They showed up not long after Shayn made her presence known. The things were... equine, and yet not. Human hands in place of their forehooves and their heads... their heads were simply wrong. None of them spoke, they simply wandered the decks.

[Rfena tries to picture that and... is a little disturbed. She murmurs to herself, considering.] If the perception is what's the key point, maybe those people were able to alter it somehow. Maybe its not magical in nature but an outside source....

[She shakes her head slightly, looking at Shockwave.] That sounds... strange. Where did they come from? Were they simply transported here like everyone else?

[He shakes his own head, banishing the memory back into its little spot in the back of his processor.] I am uncertain. They might have been here all along.

[She draws her knees up, crossing and resting her arms on them.] Were they already here when you got here? Maybe if we ask someone whose been here longer... [Yeah, ask around about the murderers. That would go over well.]

They appeared a few days after I arrived. But Mikaela did not seem to recognize them. Though that Kevas fellow might know more... [That's what just asking about the horse-things is for.]

[That makes more sense, and is less likely to get their heads bitten off.]

Kevas? I have to let him know what I found out, too. I can him ask when I do that, maybe.

They probably weren't new passengers, at least.

[It really is, yeah. Folks are pretty... sensitive about it still.]

I am certain they were not. They seemed to know their way around. [As they walked through the walls, but that's a bit 'wtf?!' even for him.]
