First off -- Happy birthday to batdina and an early gleeful natal day to starfire6910 May this one be great, and many subsequent ones even better.

Safeway training continues. The keyboarding I pretty much have down (I've been teaching my left hand to do the keypad, because the register setup makes it much easier that way. I keep thinking of lori and how most of the world is so not set up for southpaws. The part I am actually having trouble with is memorizing the product codes for the 'produce mastery test'. They make no inherent sense, so it is brute force memorization. I am thinking I am going to have to write a silly song about the numbers so I can keep them straight. If I do, I will share.

Blacksmithing is going very well -- I got 12 of the 22 tent stakes finished (and have spike nails and washers as backup), and I am very happy with them.

Bookmaking class is frustrating, though the critique went ok -- basically, my thing was so different from everyone else's (the only one patterned after an extant, researchable style, the poetry form, etc) that they didn't really know what to say, not even the instructor. Oh well. Getting the things displayed was aggravating but was ultimately achieved. Only the text part of mine is visible, and hanging it made some of the (intentionally) frayed/fringed edges fray more, but now we know what the cabinets are like, and none of the rest of the projects will be quite so troublesome to display.

I found a lovely book called "More Books Made by Hand" (or something like that -- in the 'papercraft' section of the big bookstore) that has given me a bunch of ideas and more important, step by step instructions on how to do the things I want to do!

So the Accordion book is going to have board covers, and will be (I hope) a little journey through the Ancient World's ideas of ideal body shape :-). Which I can then use in my humanities class.

I got the tent all finished, and set it up in the north yard -- discovering that I had made a small error and the ridge-pole grommets did not fit. So I made little tabs with new grommets and it looks like a feature :-). Pictures were taken and will be posted once they are extracted from the camera. I am really happy with it.

The stuff is all packed (some of it was packed on Sunday and is already at the War) and loaded into the car, except for the ice chest and one or two other last minute things (pocketbook, coronet box, things like that). I have fond hopes of getting on the road at 6 tomorrow. Wish me luck!

I will be gone until Monday. Have a faboo time at Escapade/Gallifrey/Whatever else is happening this weekend!
