Sometimes really cool things happen:
Chalk drawing of tiger outlasts 5 university presidents The census-meme
1961 - I started the year a very tiny person indeed, in Nashville TN, and turn one in November, in Flagstaff, AZ. I apparently greeted the October arrival of my little brother with equanimity. Mom, Dad, my brother and I and possibly a poodle named Chenniele.
1971 - I was in 5th/6th grade, with new braces on my teeth. I lived in the house that is still in the family with my dad, step-mom, 2 brothers and 3 sisters in a his-hers-ours assortment. At least one dog, several gerbils, and the occasional snake. In the summer I and my brother go to Pasadena, CA to be with Mom, step-dad and our other half-sister, in a Craftsman-style bungalow with a varying number of cats. I think there were 2 that summer.
1981 - Junior/senior year of college. I lived in Ripon, WI, in Smith Hall on the college campus, first in a single-single and then in a double-single. I was one of the Smith Independents, a co-ed section of the dorm between two male fraternities. It was uneventfully congenial.
1991 - I was living alone by choice in a shotgun apartment in an iffy but not horrible part of Oakland, CA, with a real job and benefits.
2001 - Still in that shotgun apartment, though the neighborhood has gone downhill.
2011 - living alone by choice with 2 cats in a manufactured house in Tucson, AZ, missing CA but otherwise doing ok.
