On the last night of the year
There is a meme to post the first sentence of the first post in each month --
Went to the Boar's Den event today and really enjoyed hanging out & seeing people. It's still the second where I am! This deserves to be shared: today is the Centenary of First Ever Air to Ground Radio Message: "Come and Get this Goddam Cat" because yes, there were cats on dirigibles. Truckers who quilt and knit! From the class I took at Estrella 2010, taught by Jacqueline of Normandy A recipe for Hippocras. This is just fun -- local vicar revives ancient archery practice. Flying cars! No, really! Flying cars! I had a wonderful, amazing, whirlwind weekend of Adamness, of which I hope to post in greater length soon. I know nearly everyone mentioned in this article:
Oakland keeps Abbots Bromley Horn Dance alive. Dear Writer: First off, as so many others have said before and will say again, Thank You. The Giants won the series! According to Scrivener, I ended the month with precisely 59000 words.
I wrote a fair amount this year, as it happens, and rather to my surprise, since it certainly did not feel like it at the time. I shall put together a Writing Round Up Post to follow this one, though I need to do the Other Arts Yuletide post first.
Otherwise -- I did ok this year. I am employed with a job that I mostly enjoy, with a team I really like & a boss who looks out for us. I've been over-all healthy. My family is doing ok -- and my mother is getting married in June! Whee! For which occasion I am designing & making her dress. I got to visit mom & my sister twice this year.
I got to see dpaxson and lwood this May, and plans are afoot to see them again this year, hopefully going to the event they are coming out for. I did as much SCA as I wanted, including pretty much the whole of Estrella. I may be playing more this year - certainly I will be seeing more of the household, as american_knight is doing monthly gatherings, which are very fun.
I got to see Adam Lambert in concert three times, and each one was enormous fun. ickaimp went to two of them with me. I went to Con*Strict, and roomed with the ever-delightful
mrshamill. I signed up for a Block of the Month quilt thing, and have managed to keep up (though I still need to make the December block).
I now have a second cat - wheeee!
Looking forward to the new year, I want to continue to write, to sew, to make things. I want to continue to make my house my home - fewer boxes, less clutter, more pretties where they can be appreciated. I want to have a party. I want to get out to California again, and see people. I want to keep as much or better of a handle on my finances. I want to remember that I am loved by many people, and they really do want to see me.
