I actually got some stuff done this weekend!
Got new elastic in 4 of Mom's skirts, and got the other 5 cut apart preparatory to shortening them.
Found the renn/German corset! Altered it to fit my current shape. All I needed to do was add two small wedges to expand the waist -- the bust & back still fit.
Disassembled the pink and black German to make it bigger. Found the grey bias (and sorted an *8 year old* box of trim and stuff.) Made a new plastron for same, and am part way on re-sewing the skirt to the waistband after expanding the cartridge pleats. My fingers are sore :-).
Watched a couple more Queen of Swords eps, and realized that my biggest problem with the show is that I cannot take the heroine seriously. PW as Helm, V Pelka as Montoya, Marta, most of the guest-stars -- I am right there, completely sold on the performances, believing the characters. Tessie (and to a large extent Grisham) I just can't swallow. Is it that she cannot act, or that she is so outclassed by the rest of the cast that it seems like it? enjoyed Peter's performance immensely, and am Quite Convinced that Helm is Methos :-). -- Actually, there is another thing that tweaks me about QoS, and that's the costumes for the women. The men (the uniforms particularly) are perfect. The women appear to be randomly dressed from some 30-40 years of style, and none of them are strikingly accurate. And I keep wanting to hand those women shawls and parasols against the sun.
Also watched HL s1 eps The Gathering (again -- wonderful ep), Family Ties and The Road Not Taken. Very interesting to see the origins of several continuing threads. And Duncan's ethical/moral convictions showed up right early, too. If you are one of His People there's a lot of leeway (I liked it that Joe Stanton got kind of a free pass :-)) but cross the Duncan Line, and it's a different story. Now I'll have to see if Kiem Sun shows up again....
Lol! That 22 years kinda stuck :-).
