Sorry it's so long...lol sunshine_flying February 21 2011, 05:50:11 UTC
Okay, this post totally got me thinking and because I'm a creepy lurker I felt the need to respond *shifty eyes*
It also made me sad that I was perusing my iTunes for songs, just to find that I don't own some of them. Which explains why I'm downloading songs from my [basically] empty bank account, and I don't regret it at all. So thank you for wonderful reminders :)

Five times I was touched by a song -
1. Boot Scootin' Boogie by Brooks & Dunn. This song holds so many memories for me and my dad its ridiculous. When I was younger, we couldn't really afford daycare (thank goodness) so I got to spend my days with my grandpa and grandma while my parents worked instead. This song would always come on the radio during the drive and little toddler me would sing along to the radio with my dad, even though I couldn't really pronounce the words well. I don't actually have any memories of this, but my dad likes to talk about these car rides all the time when he talks about how much he misses me now that I'm off at college. It makes me get all nostalgic now whenever I hear it.

2. 16 Going on 17 from The Sound of Music. Even though its between this ill-fated couple in the musical, this is like THE SONG that reminds me of my grandma. She's still around, but this song just has so many memories. When I was younger and would spend the days with her, she'd play music on the piano from The Sound of Music and I'd sing along. We'd repeat this song so many times she had it memorized (and she still does)! I was going to make a point to sing this when I was 16 but I never did and now it makes me sad :(

3. Three Best Friends from The Hangover. Yes, I know, how could a song from that movie actually hold meaning? Well, I got it on a mix CD from my 5 year old brother. I practically cried when he told me that song was about me, him, and my 8 year old brother. Now I can't listen to this song without practically bursting into tears (I miss them both so much!).

4. Hey Juliet by LMNT. This song is just a crazy, feel good 90's pop song from a Disney CD I used to own. My best friend and I ROCK OUT to this in the car whenever it plays on one of my old CDs. It's an old favorite of both of ours, and the coolest part is, we've both loved this song since it came out, and we didn't know each other then. It was just one of those things we bonded over years later.

5. Happy Ending by Mika. Every time I hear this song I just think of my sister. She's three years younger than me but I love her like nothing else. I introduced her to colorguard when we were younger, and she's really good at it. I couldn't be in it my senior year because I was injured, and she took my place (against her better judgment - she's scared of performing for crowds) and she did so well, every time I see the performance I cry. This song is just...for me and her.

One time I touched someone else with music -
1. I've been missing my dad a lot lately because I'm in this phase of my life where I need to move out on my own, graduate college, and grow up (I DON'T WANNA!!!!!) and it honestly terrifies me. Well, I've been playing guitar more often to try to get my frustrations out, and I learned Your Song (originally by Elton John, but I like the version by Ellie Goulding better) and on a whim learned the chords and lyrics, recorded it on my laptop, and sent it to my dad for Valentine's Day. He called me (ridiculously early in the morning) when he got it to tell me how proud he was and how much he missed me and I just...yeah. Lots of emotions.

Haha, you're welcome! (: Glad I could make you think (and lurking's fine--I approve!).

I loved number one; it was so warm and fuzzy in that wholesome-family sort of way.
AWWW--don't make me feel so fluffy and touched I might cry. Your brother is adorkable. ♥♥

OH MY GOD, HEY JULIET!!!!! I remembered it from eons ago, and when my friend showed it to me we spazzed out when we realized "HOLY SHIT, is that Kevin McHale?!" Just... I THINK YOU'RE FINE, YOU REALLY BLOW MY--! sorry. xD

I... do I even have to say how touching all of these stories were? They were so personal and heartfelt, and I feel honored that you were willing to show them to me. ♥ (And yes, I do love Ellie Goulding's version of Your Song. And WHY YOU SO SWEET? That's one of the sweetest things I've ever heard someone do.)

I hope you act like a creepy lurker more often! I enjoyed reading this a lot. (: ♥

:D
Your comments to my comments just kinda put a smile on my face!

When you freaked out and said Kevin McHale with the whole Hey Juliet thing, I had to Google it, and it turns out Matthew Morrison was in LMNT? SMALL WORLD haha.

And I'm glad you enjoyed reading my random trip down memory lane.
I enjoyed reading your list as well :)
