[Regal has been a fan of Christmas ever since he discovered it in is first year here in Luceti. Not only is it an excuse to give to others, but there's just something about the atmosphere and the decorations that make him happy, that feeling of closeness with one's friends and family ( Read more... )

Best Christmas present ever fonon_professor December 26 2010, 11:00:47 UTC
[About a month ago, Sokka did mention to Gelda that Regal had something important to talk to her about. It was something that unnerved her a bit, especially after Sokka specifically said that she shouldn't worry about it. Still, after so many weeks it's slipped her mind again. So many things have happened that she's just glad for a chance to relax.

This is Gelda's third Christmas in Luceti, by now. She's grown quite fond of the holiday. It's all about giving and being close to your friends, of course, but the fact that it's strongly associated with snow makes things even better. She misses Keterburg more than she'd like to admit, but seeing Luceti covered in a white blanket makes up for it somewhat.

When Regal enters the living room, he'll find Gelda sitting by the fireplace, deeply immersed in a book.]

[Regal stands for a moment to watch her and this peaceful scene, smiling. All of the nervousness he'd had the prior time he tried this is gone, because this time, he's not involving any sort of boat or experiment. And this is the perfect weather-- he knows how much she misses Keterburg, and a day like this must be making her happy.

He'll make his way over to the fireplace, still smiling, reaching out to run a hand fondly through her hair once he reaches her.]

Enjoying the holiday?

[She'd already heard him coming, which is why Regal's touch was expected and welcomed. A pleasant smile tugging at her lips, she reaches up to take Regal's hand in her own, turning her head to meet his gaze.]

How could I not? I've got everything I could wish for. [A loving boyfriend who prepared a delicious feast, great friends, everyone close to her survived the draft... And if things remain quiet, school will start again soon.]

Everything?

[He gives that hand a gentle squeeze, thumb rubbing lightly over her knuckles. He's pretty sure she has no idea what he has planned, which is just how he wants it. But he's also got a decoy gift ready-- one that ISN'T the pink fuzzy handcuffs that statue had spit out at him. He really doesn't want to know what the Malnosso were trying to tell him with that.]

[Whatever the Malnosso were trying to tell him with that, it can't be worse than the message that would have accompanied the Catalyst weapon Gelda received. That present gave her the willies and she's made sure to hide it away until she can find a safer location for it.

Gelda places a piece of paper in her book with one hand to mark the page, before snapping it shut. Then she scoots aside slightly to give Regal more space on the couch. Go on, love, don't just stand there.]

Everything. I honestly can't think of anything else I want, right now. Unless you have a suggestion?

[Regal will be sitting down as soon as she moves to give him room, one hand reaching into the pocket of his pants, where he's been concealing what looks to be a jewelry box of some sort. Okay, so maybe he went a little overboard here, but he likes to spoil her.

With a smile, he holds out the box to her, indicating that she should open it.]

I think I can come up with a few things you might like.

[Her eyes widen visibly at the sight of that jewelry box. Then she blinks and takes it with both hands, running a finger alongside it. It's a rather large box. A necklace? Or a bracelet, perhaps?]

Oh Regal. You shouldn't have. [Even so, she'll open it with an excited smile. At this rate, she's going to get spoilt rotten.]

[Inside the box is a lovely diamond necklace, chosen partly because it reminded him of icicles, and with Gelda's Keterburg origins, he found it quite fitting. And sure, she's not a fancy jewelry sort of person, but every woman deserves to have a few pretty things.]

Whether I should or shouldn't have doesn't matter when it comes to something such as this. After all, it is the season of giving.

[She can't say Regal has bad taste in jewelry; quite the opposite. The necklace reminds her of icicles as well and she can't help but admire the way it shimmers in the light. It'll go nicely with the earrings Frederic got her this afternoon. She doesn't spend too long staring at her gift, though. After only a few seconds, she closes the box again and turns her attention back to Regal.]

It's beautiful. I can't thank you enough. [She feels her own present is going to pale in comparison to this. Perhaps she can go out and get him something else, later.]

[His hand finds hers again and just rests lightly over it, the look on his face still warm and loving. The fact that she likes it so much is only serving to embolden him further-- after this, how could anything go wrong?]

You already have.

[And then, to show her what he means, he leans in for a kiss, his other arm sliding around her back to pull her close against him. It's the perfect Christmas scene. Now, there's just one thing left to make it better...]

[It'll never cease to amaze her just how much of a romantic Regal is. Honestly, in Gelda's opinion there really isn't a way to improve their situation. She rather likes the way things are and she doesn't dare wish for any more.

When Regal pulls her closer, she blindly places the jewelry box on the couch beside her and returns the embrace by sliding both arms around his neck, leaning heavily into the kiss. Even with their lips pressed together, Regal should be able to tell she's smiling. She just can't help herself.]

[Whatever Gelda got him as a Christmas present doesn't matter to him-- seeing her this happy is the best gift he could receive, and with any luck, he'll be making her even more happy in just a little while.

That smile serves as incentive for him to deepen the kiss just a bit, but he doesn't want to get too carried away, not yet... there will be plenty of time for that afterward. Still, he's happy to just kiss like this for a while, hand on her back rubbing gentle circles over her shoulders, then moving down to the small of her back.]

[A quick shiver escapes Gelda. Regal's hand just moved past the base of her wings and despite the layer of cloth on her back, that's a very sensitive area. In turn, her fingers start to play with the locks of long blue hair that are falling past Regal's neck. Unless he puts a stop to this, Gelda probably will get carried away. She doesn't know he has anything more planned, after all.]

[Oh, Regal noticed that shiver all right, and those fingers playing with his hair feel very nice as well... but no, not until afterwards. If he gets distracted now, it will ruin the moment, and he's not going to let that happen again.

So it's with great reluctance that he pulls away from the kiss, arms still around her as he gazes down fondly at her. They'll have plenty of time - and incentive - to do this later.]

The snow seems to have calmed down somewhat. Why don't we go for a walk?

A walk? [She looks a little surprised, but only for a moment. Regal is always the hopeless romantic, and if he wants to go for a walk on the evening of Christmas day, it's bound to be a pleasant one. Especially with the snow the way it is now.]

That sounds perfect.

[He stands, offering her his hand with a smile. In truth, he's very thankful it decided to snow today, because he knows she loves the snow. It looks like the Malnosso are smiling on them this time... maybe.]
