[Regal is very used to amusement parks. After all, the guy owns one of his own back in Altamira. While he's not a huge fan of the rides, it's fun to just wander around and see everyone else enjoying themselves for a change (was that a WOLF on the rollercoaster?)... still, he can't quite shake his suspicions about the Malnosso having some ulterior ( Read more... )

[Guy's just going to silently stand just behind you and ponder this thing as well. Will Regal notice?]

[It takes him a moment, but yes, he does. Oh, hey, he knows you.]

Have you been on this ride yourself, Guy?

Not yet. [THERE IS A MISCHIEVOUS GLEAM IN THAT EYE.]

[And he sees that gleam, oh yes he does.]

But you are planning to, and you have a companion in mind.

[Guy gives Regal a good look-over. He's enormous; tall, big shoulders...yes, he'll do nicely.]

Sure do. Come on. [And he grabs Regal's arm and starts to drag him toward the line up for the ride.]

Wait a moment, I was already waiting for someone--

[WHAT. GUY, WHAT ARE YOU DOING. Forgive him for resisting the dragging here.]

Oh, you were? [Guy stops.

...glances around.] How long do you think they'll be?

Unfortunately, I don't know. What is this all about?

[Shit. He's too old for the puppy-dog-eyes approach, he'd just look creepy. And he can't work his charm because he and Regal aren't close enough.

Efffff.

...right, damsel in distress approach. Sometimes that works if the person is nice enough.] I...I need your help.

[Well, that's different. Not what he was expecting, but Regal isn't the kind of guy to turn down a plea for help. So he'll lower his voice a bit for this next question out of respect for Guy's situation.]

Help with what?

[Guy sighs, scratching the back of his head and putting on his best sheepish voice.] A friend of mine, Anise, was on that ride earlier and she dropped her tokens into the water. When she tried to fish them out, the droids jumped her and dragged her off to detention for interfering with the ride. I want to get them back for her, but I think they'd notice if I was by myself. So...I was hoping I could get someone to play lookout for me.

In other words, you want me to fend off any droids who might try to stop you while you dive in to retrieve the tokens, which was why you chose me instead of anyone else nearby.

[He's on to you, Guy. Not that he particularly minds doing it, he just wants to make sure you know that he's not falling for the "playing lookout" excuse.]

[NOT QUITE. Because he does need a lookout.] Oh no. I don't have any delusions about you fending them off, I'd just like you to tell me when you see them coming so I can get a head start on my shameless escape.

Besides, you're the only one I knew in line.

Fair enough. I suppose I could agree to this as long as you agree to shoulder your share of the blame if we are caught.

Oh, don't worry about that! I'll be shouldering all the blame, I wouldn't want to keep you from your date.
