I'm only going to use this icon once, to show it off - because whoohoo, I made an actual moving gif image! (alright, using a website, but I'm pretty happy at being able to produce an icon from one of my paintings).

I was asked to make winners and second place banners, and icons for the challenge. ( Master list of fic and Winners announced )
After flailing around for ideas, and looking through reference photos hoping for inspiration, I kept getting caught by how gorgeous the Rodney-Jennifer scene from The Last Man looked.
This isn't intended to be a fix-it - only a homage to some stunning cinematography. Because I didn't want to just replace Jennifer with John in the scene, I built this from scratch using a photomanip of the Earth for the background. Then I used 2 normally lit profile shots as references and painted them with the Earth-lit silhouette lighting. Not my best likenesses, but OMG I managed a total lighting change *g*. Digital art using Painter X.
