mcshep_match is over and I enjoyed being able to join in the Match. Team Peace was narrowly beaten by Team War (Congratulations worthy adversaries!)

The original post is here, no longer anonymous (though I was possibly the least anonymous person in the match, based on the guessing post. *g*): here . Stargate Atlantis, ancient Roman AU, John and Rodney, G ( Read more... )

This is a very beautiful picture. I love the detail on John's armour, the breastplate and the decoration on the helmet are superb.

In fact I love everything about it...

The Romans have always been my favourite era of history :)

Hey, thanks. I've always had a love for the Roman era, too, so this was a lot of fun to do! I found a great reference for the helmet (there are some brilliant re-enactor sites around) so the helmet is directly referenced - but I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

*Is awed*

I love their expressions and they way you can clearly tell that John is still chewing on his apple bite. And the clothes, OMG, this is such an adorable AU! And the shiny pegasus on the breastplate and the helmet.

You are my favorite!

I'm just catching up on my LJ reading and replying - but thank you for your Match art - the banners are so very cute. (also your icon is extremely distracting - in a very good way *g*)

I can't claim the apple chewing was deliberate (though who knows what my subconcious is doing half the time!) but it does look like it, and I was pretty happy with how it turned out. *g*

Thanks *g* I was aiming for that kind of mood - and I'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out.

I know that I've commented all ready, but I love this from the hair on John's shins to the executed depths.

(As you can tell, I'm catching up on my replies today *g*).

I had to think about how to paint those hairy shins (I figure his are hairy, so that wasn't in question) - since the hair ended up looking like my sketchy sort of shading, so how to tell one from the other?
