I think I may have mentioned: I don't go nuts about him personally, but I love his music and happily listen to it whenever it's put in front of me (hence: thanks for these vids, they're awesome!). But I do have to say, he has a way of endearing himself.
I had reason to drive around the city for half an hour or so a few weeks back, at a really ungodly morning hour (I think it was 6:30 or so), so I was flipping through radio stations trying to find one with a morning radio talk show that wouldn't drive me nuts, and on KISS-FM they had him on. I recognized his voice right away and just decided to stick with it, because he sounded way too reasonable for that hour of the morning (also: I was driving in the general neighborhood of the station's offices at that point, and they specifically said he was in the studio, and I was having a moment of great verisimilitude, but I totally digress). Anyway, so he talked about the album, and a little bit about his life, and then they started getting callers. At one point this woman called in from somewhere out in the sleepy suburbs, and got as far as saying that she's taking a break from work and that she's 30-something. Then was asked to ask Adam a question and she just totally balked. You could feel it, how she was OK talking to the DJ but when it came time to speak to Adam directly, she just couldn't. She blanked on what she was going to ask, and sounded as if she was almost in tears over just her inability to speak to him, something she clearly wanted to be able to do but couldn't because she was just that surprised to be in a position to speak to him.
So he did this awesome thing, and broke into the conversation between the woman and the DJ, and just started asking the woman questions. About her job, and her life, and what she had for dinner last night, and what does she think she's going to do for family vacation this summer, and they ended up having this conversation for at least twenty minutes that just... made me feel better about the universe. None of it was about him, or about music, just about life. It was awesome.
Oh man, that is such a sweet story. He's such a cupcake of a person. And I'm happy you liked the vids \o/
Did I ever tell you about how, when my daddy was ill, he was my go to happy place? He's so :D all the time that when I'd get back from hospitals and stuff I'd just lose myself in watching him. Anyway, long story short, I got to meet him when he last came over to the UK for some concerts and it wasn't soon after my dad passed away so I was pretty incapable of thinking about anything else so I just kind of blurted all that at him and was trying to thank him. He was so damn sweet. I can't remember a lot of it, but I remember hugs and him actually thanking me for allowing him to do that for me!!
