Scintillate, scintillate, globular vivific,
Fain would I fathom thy nature specific,
Loftily perched in the ether capacious,
Closely resembling a gem carbonaceous.
Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
How I wonder what you are,
Up above the world so high,
Like a diamond in the sky.
When torrid Phoebus refuses his presence,
And ceases to lamp us with fierce incandesence,
Then you illuminate regions supernal,
Scintillate, scintillate, semper nocturnal.
When the blazing sun has gone,
And he nothing shines upon,
Then you show your little light,
Twinkle, twinkle, all the night.
Then the victim of hospiceless peregrination,
Gratefully hails your minute coruscation,
He could not determine his journey's direction,
But for your bright scintillating reflection.
Then the traveller in the dark,
Thanks you for your tiny spark,
He could not see the way to go,
If you did not twinkle so.
