Not really. There were some other minor things and I'm sure if I put my "beta glasses" on, I'd find more - but that was the one that made me get snarky.
There are certain things in fandom - character names, places, fandom specific items - that should be basic. I'm afraid to go back and see if that fic had a beta listed. I just don't want to know.
I'm not an English major. I know I make typos and grammar mistakes. I don't try to pass myself off as having ANY creative talent. BUT, I can still help spot obvious, and some not so obvious, errors so that readers don't want to spork their eyes out.
Why, oh, why do people post without a beta. Some will even note "no beta" in their header. And I'm not talking about drabbles. Just...boggle.
I just hate to totally mock things I find because at least those folks are writing stories and sharing them. I don't want to discourage any creativity.
You're a good person for not wanting to discourage creativity. I always make sure to read my stuff before I post it, if I don't use a beta. I mean, I'm an English/Public Relations major so those things just go *pop* at me.
And everyone makes errors, and I think any smart person who knows the English language can spot glaring typos and stuff.
Beta-ing?

Is the rest of it that bad?

Ack.
Things like that make me cringe.
