This is a huge rant about some of the 'people' who post on ff.net - who would want to read a story with this summary:
"A Jenny/Nate/Blair triangle story. I'm not good at summaries. Just read and review. I do not own Gossip Girl. P.S. Jenny is not a power hungry person in the fic. ENJOY! Often mentions of other characters. Especially Chuck and Darena in the coming chapter."
"I'm not good at summaries"? Obviously. It's like a medical student saying to you "Oh, I'm still a student so I don't actually have any idea what I'm doing" WTF?!! Do I look like I care? If you can't write summaries then keep it short and sweet - this summary is a schizophrenic with ADD.
"Just read and review"? Hey, pal giving orders in your summary not likely to make me wanna do either. If your summary wasn't so long-winded, disjointed, rambling and inappropriate then I might, just might, be tempted to read it. Reviewing is up to me, and I've given up on reviewing things at ff.net cause usually they're so shit I usually just want to correct their insanely obvious spelling and/or grammar mistakes - did anyone else notice that there's a difference between they're and their? Have they never heard of a beta? It's written up there (again, not their or they're) along with Communities and the Dictionary - they're not there to fill the page with useless junk.
"Often mentions of other characters" Won't start on the grammar. Of course other characters will be mentioned - they live in a world inhabited by people so unless this little love triangle existed in it's own little bubble somewhere out in the univese I'd expect other human beings to exist in your nine-chapter-long fic. It's like saying "Do you want to watch some sports on tv? But wait, I have to warn you we might see other people beside the athletes on tv, they might even sometimes not be doing their sport, they might like, just be sitting down or something. And while they're playing they might even breathe" Seriously?!
P.S. in the middle of the summary - look up what P.S. means. For those of you who don't know, it means post script and for those of you who don't know what post means, use dictionary.com, it's what it's there for.
"P.S. Jenny is not a power hungry person in the fic. ENJOY! " Giving people inappropriately placed post scripts with random bits of possibly irrelevant information and then yelling at us to ENJOY goes a long way towards a crap summary. But then you probably knew that already since that was your second sentence. 'Here, I've put all this effort into writing a fic and posting it up here but I still think you should know that I'm crap at expressing myself. So instead of putting a little more effort into my fic by checking out the good summaries available and trying to use that outline to 'sell' my fic I'll just tell you how bad I am at something instead" Don't know about the rest of you but I'm fascinated to see what this articulate and eloquent person has to add the the Jenny/Nate/Blair genre *and scene*,*bows and leaves*
