I came on-line tonight to do some writing and got lost in the wonder of semyzaz's journal (I have no idea how to make the little LJ icon next to someone's name, so my apologies) and fell in love with the lovely little poem by Rowena Bennett about The Second Hand Shop. So much so, that I've written it down and put it in my inspiration file folder, I feel a wonderful story brewing in my head again. I did a search of Ms Bennett's book and was intrigued by the one titled "Songs From Around A Toadstool Table" the very sound of it is so delightful...I must have it. In any case I had meant to spend a good three or four hours writing tonight (our drumming circle was canceled and I felt the need to write) instead of going astray in tall grasses and old second hand shops with whistles and buttons and thimbles that were lost. She inspired this little poem from me tonight instead of working on my story.
Fairy Tales and Thimbles
Go be serious over there Mikey,
I've only time for play
The light is nearly gone now
And dark is on it's way.
I've spent the day in working
And posting far off letters,
I only have a moment
For things that really matter;
Like fairy tales and thimbles
And the sound of children's laughter.
It is always the smallest of things that inspire us or at least me. I guess I'm feeling a bit empty nested tonight.
