Just got home from judging the school Science Fair. I love Science Fairs! There's always noise and smoke and bad smells and little brothers and sisters running around, and projects that don't work, and some really cool contraption, and live mice and dead plants and nervous contestants. Arthur Weasley would have the time of his life. :D
This year was no exception, it had them all.
But one thing it didn't seem to have many of this year was the "thrown-together-at-the-last-minute" entries. I'm glad to see that. And it only had a couple of the "my-dad-the-engineer-really-built-this" types too. I like when the judging is a little bit difficult because there isn't a big show off that steals it, and all the kids put their hearts into it.
Anyway, the winner in my catagory turned out to be best in show. Not that *I* had anything to do with it... but still makes me feel a bit proud.
Next year I might be a teacher/mentor instead of judging. I love to see these 8th graders excited with discovery.
Cool stuff, science!
