LIFE DOESN'T SUCK.
I know I talk all the time about how shitty it is. But I feel so validated right now.
I have been through some of the hardest months of my life. (DEFINITELY not THE hardest, but nonetheless difficult.) Yet through it all I stayed faithful. Speaking of faithful... funny that things come together for me THE DAY AFTER I REJOIN MY PARISH! Interesting how I made a commitment to God and He made one RIGHT BACK. *Sigh* Dave, I know if you are reading this, you are thinking... what bullshit. But I AM SO GLAD THAT I KNOW THE LORD. and I am amazed at the lessons He teaches me on a DAILY basis.
Long story short, I got a job today. Last week, a woman called me OUT OF THE BLUE and said that she got my name from an associate of hers I'd sent it to who wasn't hiring. WHY would I send my resume to someone who wasn't hiring? IN CASE something opened up. I sent it so they could store it for when someone left. But this woman was chatting about how swamped she was and couldn't find good help, and that lady remembered my name. So I sent the woman my resume and she said she would call in the next few days. That was Tuesday of last week. I never heard from her.
At mass on Sunday, I prayed about it and decided just to call her and make sure she got my email. This morning, I got back from dropping my dad at work and went to get into my email to pull up her number. But I saw that SHE HAD EMAILED ME. It said, "Hi Alison. Things are busy here, but I would like to meet with you. Can you see me between nine and ten on Monday?" I looked at the clock. It was 9:15. So I called and said I would be there right away.
When I got there, she told me about the company and then basically told me that I was not there to interview. I was there to make sure I was a good fit with her and she was a good fit with me. According to her, "your resume already landed you this job". !!!!!!!!! YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!
Then she told me about the job. It is FULL-TIME, YEAR-ROUND, EVENT PLANNING, WRITING, and PR!!! Talk about the perfect job! It gets better... The place where I work is nestled in the top of a "mountain" where the grass is green, the trees are changing all colors, beautiful horses run through fields, the breeze is soft and cool, and I have NEVER felt such peace.
She asked me what salary I was looking for and I through out a rough estimate. She said, "That's really not what I was interested in." Then she offered me 7,000 MORE! In three months, I am eligible for Benefits and a significant raise. She said it is not a maybe... it is an EXTREMELY likely.
God is good.
To everyone who waited through the bad times and was there for me... THANK YOU. It was very often you who kept my faith alive.
I have to get to bed... I'm a career woman now! Wish me luck tomorrow!
