Not major nitpickers but people who are fans and expect a movie to represent their favorite movie/comic/book/etc. If they made a Gargoyles movie and the gargoyles didn't turn to stone, didn't have Brooklyn or Angela, Goliath was green and there was no Wyvern backround, ie. they hatched in the present day...wouldn't you be peeved? I would. So it's not nitpicking, it's hoping your fandom would gain greater appeal to those who aren't familiar with it, and let down because there are new fans, but fans of some movie rendition of a crappy fanfiction. "Oh, I'm an X-Men fan. I watched the movies and Wolverine is so hot and blah blah." 'K, fine, but you're a fan of a half-assed copy, not the original which in most cases, is always better. I mean, look at all this crappy americanized pretend-anime they put out here. Sailor Moon was sanitized to the point of revulsion and suddenly Pokemon is the basis for what anime is? ... good God, I can't go on...anyway, that crap isn't good anime and if someone says they're an anime fan because they watch Yu-Gi-Oh, you're (hopefully), "STFU moron. That isn't anime and you have no idea what you're missing." So I guess I'm trying to say that anyone that's angry at the third installment of the X-Men movie series has every right to be annoyed and upset. Blistering and tormented? That is a little much but most are not nitpicking, just wishing for something we thought the comics were owed and deserved, but obviously the big wigs disagreed. :/
Yeah, I agree, there are things that aren't right, and whatnot, and people are being nitpicky, but in the end - this is a whole _different_ universe.. i barely even follows the comicline other then the fact that it uses the same characters - I mean, sure, if I saw a new TMNT movie and it only had Leo or something, I'd be pretty upset and whatnot, but we can't sit here and just.. trash it I guess.
I consider myself to be enough of a well rounded fan to know the differences and therefore can appreciate the movie and the comics differences.. I mean, I know someone who's all gaga over Lord of the Rings and thinks he's a true fan - and he's only seen the movies. That kind of person is absurd and has no idea what they're talking about and represent a slew of dumb "fans".
I seriously think some people are just way overboard tho' - I was afraid to even see the movie because some people were being so way, way hard on it. But I loved it, in the end. I'm not saying that it didn't represent the comics as it should, and that we didn't get what we should have gotten as true X-Men fans, because that's entirely true - it didn't and we didn't. But I still thought it was a fabulous job and I loved it, regardless of all of that.
And I think I just ran around in circles in this post. Ha ha.
Well yah, if you're needing a Valium after writing a long rant about how crappy this or any movie was, you need to get out more and expand your horizons. Feeling like this movie is worse than say, the Power Ranger movies is well...being overzealous.
