Wherein my Fellow DC Nerds Come Out of the Woodwork

I was clothes shopping at the mall on Saturday, and wandered into Hot Topic because sometimes they have some pretty great Superman stuff.  They had just gotten in these t-shirts from DC.  One has all the DC villains, (And how happy was I to see my Lex on a t-shirt!!!)  and then one with the Justice League on it, front and back.  So I got one of each, (plus a Christopher Walken "more cowbell" t-shirt cos I'm a huge Walken fan,)and today I wore the JLA t-shirt to school (University, where I'm going for my BA in English).  I guess a lot of creative writing and English majors are closet DC/hero fans because once I walked into the English building, I got a lot of people giving me the "OMG DUDE! Where did you get your SHIRT!"  I swear, they came out of the woodwork from nowhere! Even the guy who translates for the deaf girl in my creative writing class was geeking out, and he's got to be in his mid 40's! It was pretty funny, and nice to know that DC is not just for young people anymore.  I can't wait to wear the villain shirt and see what happens with that!

I also finally figured out why I love Bipo's "Because of You" Lex/Lionel character study vid so much.  I was watching it this morning before class and I realized that not only does the song tell the story of Lex's life better than anything ever could, but every single clip she picked out showcases Michael Rosenbaum's amazing ability to get so deeply into his character that you gain more sympathy for him than you ever could the would-be hero, Clark Kent.  In fact, because of Michael and his amazing talents, I believe Lex is the hero now more than ever.  Besides, the self-hating, whiny bitch that Clark Kent has become makes me wonder how he could ever become Superman.  At this point, it would take one hell of a turnaround to make me believe he could.  *Puts on "I'm a Luthor Minion" t-shirt*
