She would’ve done anything not to be left behind in that moment, and she counted herself fortunate that Mistress Cara was extremely versed and knowledgeable about the depths of dependency. Wow, it’s true! Poor pets become nonfunctional by themselves!
The clouds moved mockingly above them, blocking out the north star, the half moon and forcing them closer together. Cool image! Like something scary is going to happen.
She tugged Kahlan behind her loosely, more like a child’s toy, setting the speed faster than she was physically capable of moving. She had to know. Her mind grew wild and dark with ideas. Maybe Dahlia had been captured by whoever slept in that lonely place, or she had gone in an entirely different direction altogether and this would cost her valuable time. She didn’t feel like Dahlia was close. So she ran even harder. As they approached the steps, Cara released Kahlan and in one terrifying kick, Cara had the door pounded down and her Agiel in hand. Loooved it! My heart was thumping hard! Cara with one evil eye and another frightened, awesome!
She saw a tiny ponytail, Dahlia’s perfect color, on a pillow, attached to a motionless head turned away from her, towards a window. Blood soaked the bed in which she laid in and the thin blankets that inadequately covered her. Lol, I knew it’s wasn’t the end but still I felt a chill going through me. I should read your fic during day not at night time. Then probably I’ll feel more relaxed :)
Cara slammed her eyes shut, convinced it was a dream, pleading for some evidence that this could all be a lie. Maybe if she only stood in the doorway, this room would disappear and replace itself with a room in which Dahlia was alive and smiling and running towards her, elated arms outstretched. Oh, baby Cara!
Then I finally fell in love with Kahlan, lol! Where did this whiny girl disappear? Kahlan became an action hero, she loves she Mistress but her head is cool enough to act. I completely get the paralyzed Cara! What she saw was too much to handle! I like when Cara loses her cool and becomes vulnerable as she basically is. I just love too much a woobie!Cara!
When Kahlan dumped Cara onto Dahlia was such a delightful and adorable moment! The Mighty Shorty dumped on a bed like a weightless puppy!!!

Cara closed her eyes, as her eyelids grew unsure of how to continue functioning, and, with her lips still pressed to Dahlia, she felt something in the palm of her hand. Like it should be in a good story! Finally I could breathe freely. She needed a witness. Cara looked up at Kahlan with all the wonder of a three year old child, both eyes glittering anew like precious young worlds. "She’s alive." Awww, yes, Cara, Dahlia IS ALIVE!

Awww finding Dahlia. I'm glad you liked this!! It pained me beyond anything to see Cara like that but she loves and needs her Dahlia so of course it had to be like the worst experience of her life, right? She had already brought Dahlia back with the BoL once before but I think this time was different cuz they had parted on such heartbreaking terms with so much left unresolved...at least if Dahlia had died back then, they would've ended on a beautiful year and time. I also think Cara held out hope that not only would she be alive but that she would want Cara just as completely idk
