so. i'm The Author. as such, i'm supposed to have some vague idea of what the fuck i'm doing and where the story(s) is(are) going.
HAAaaa... 8D i totally don't.
my brain keeps stalling in the setup for the Sacramento heist in the Inception fics. i have half-formed setup snippets, and an idea of where it ends up, but no idea what the actual heist will be like.
i'm utterly lost in regards to Blood & Tears--my muses from that verse are kind of sitting there eating pizza bites or something.
i have about five or six uselessly unrelated tiny ideas for the Round Robin that could potentially grow roots if they find a big enough crack. i'm toying with the question of where hero!Daken (or....less-villainous!Daken, anyway) is and what he's up to without his Lester.
but i do have a bit of Akiko discovering the situation of her idiot toddler being kidnapped by evil!Steve and rather colorfully threatening evil!Tony over the matter.
mostly, my brain has been flirting around in the very early days of the Savant's life. i've fiddled with something like three or four very different takes on his youth, and that's where i hit a very silly pothole in the road of writing--the one i like best is inconsistent with a few teeny details mentioned in other fics. i find myself in the unthinkable position of seriously considering some retcon. much of it can just be ignored, glossed over, left alone...but i would absolutely have to change one line (in...i think Firework) to make things work.
IT'S LIKE THIS. the best, funnest, and funniest version of Savant!Wade's past that i've come up with so far has him meeting and making buddies with Neena at age fifteen, which directly contradicts the passing remark in Firework that Nate is Wade's "oldest and best friend." they bond over zombie movies and being bullied (well, attempted bullying on Neena's part, because she scares them all off by the second week), and that leads straight into military service together and going into private military contracting. there's a gap in my ideas at that point--the part where the gang meets Nate, possibly while protecting him from assassination or something similar--and it picks up with Wade finding out he has cancer, breaking up with Nessa, and deciding to take up physics as his dying hobby. for no reason at all, it contains a pair of cats named Greebo and Mr. Binky.
but i digress.
i shudder at the very idea of retconning, but since the Savant and his life are very nearly entirely my creation (well, he's still a Wade and thus heavily a creation of other people like that whack-job Liefeld), i can totally do that. so i probably will.
this is where my brain has run off to, instead of anywhere useful. i blame the excitement over the upcoming holiday movie season.
P.S.
if you read Sherlock Holmes or Supernatural fanfics, i very highly recommend
Candle Beck. absolutely incredible turn-of-phrase. if i ever decided to write Sherlock Holmes fics, this is the kind of gorgeous wording i would strive somewhat fruitlessly to achieve. i don't know how hard it is for Candle Beck, but that kind of meticulous writing takes me five rewrites over the course of a week for about a thousand perfect words. COMPLETELY EPIC.
