Costume Inspiration

I based my third Sakura costume of the artwork from the Infinity arc. This costume is an interesting mix of Punk and Ballet and after learning how to dance ballet for a year, I couldn’t resist. I joined in with two infinity groups over the years and both were great fun.

Construction Details

I started off by making a nine layered ballet tutu out of stiff ballet net, gathered and sew onto a bought pair of pants. The skirts were large circular pieces made of fabric to match the corset and arranged and pleated into the waistband. The hem was cut into shape and sealed with PVA glue.

The corset is fully boned, made out of cotton twill and interlined with bull denim for strength. I altered a pattern to include the straps, which cross over at the back and tie into the lacing. I used black ribbon and black cotton for the trim and ruffles and all the edges are bound in white cotton twill tape. The corset is laced up at the back into black metal grommets. I also added suspender straps to the front, which clip onto the skirt. The black top and necklace were simply made by ripping up a shop bought t-shirt.

I bought a new Sakura wig and completed the costume with white ballet tights, wristband and black pointe shoes.

Amy-Lou kindly made the necklaces for the group in return for the Fai shirt. Which was a shop bought shirt, with added buckles, straps and details on the collar.
