link To make this post a little more interesting I’ve added in some close up and progress shots, as well as a short description on how I made her wig.
Jessie’s wig was created by firstly removing the wig fibre from a wig leaving the wig cap behind. The shape of Jessie’s hair was built up using “rigeline” plastic boning. The cage was glued together using hot glue, fastened onto the wig cap and covered with white wadding. On top of the first cage a second cage was made in the same fashion. Layers of wadding were glued on top and shaped at the front to form Jessie’s iconic widows peak. The entire structure was painted bright pink with acrylic paint to form a base for the wig fibre. Layers of wig fibre were hot glued on top of the shell, starting from the bottom and working towards the top. Hairspray was used to ensure that the fibre laid flat and even. One the shell was completely covered the fake hairline was then created. Strips of fibre were dripped in PVA glue, dried and cut into a fine point. These were then glued along the hairline and hair sprayed into place.
Heavy duty plastic combs were sewn onto the inside, allowing the wig to be securely fastened to my head.
