camp
WOW! Camp '04 was the BEST....i mean last year was great, and probably would have been the best if i got to know the people in my living group better then, but this year was just freaking amazing.
So me and mere went up to camp sunday afternoon and got there like an hour early so we were just hanging around camp in the rain and all... then we signed in at 4 and headed back to the car to get all our stuff. in case you didn’t see what all i packed...i packed ALOT...and a lot of it didn’t fit in my bags, so i actually had to carry alot of it separately. So all 4 of us had a little of my stuff... and then mere and her mom had her stuff... so yeah i guess i packed a little too much haha. So we start walking, me about to collapse b/c i have so much to carry...(since i got the BIIIG bag) and we have to hike up this HUUUGE rocky road to our cabin, b/c its a short cut, yeah a steep short cut. so we're walking and all of a sudden mere goes KRISTEN ITS ANDY! and i look over and andy is running towards me and gives me a HUUGE hug... then he helped me carry my stuff up to my cabin what a sweetheart. lol... so yeah we got up there, this year we got a nice cabin, not ivie, but a cabin. wen we got there we unpacked and all then started talking to our counselor, callie...we ended up having an all girls living group, it was fun... i loved the girls....but i deff. missed having the co-ed living group. We got together and played a name game then we went around the camp to take silly pictures and broke alot of rules like going into the boy cabins, boys bath house, sparrowwood cabins...actually the shower... then the staff lounge. but it was fun, i cant wait till i get the pictures in the mail! dinner was at 5:45 and since we were late we ate out on the deck....and afterwards was singing on the porch which is where me and andy hung out all week...well and free time. So we sang and then we went off with our sections to make cheers and then met in the holland building to share the cheers...we couldnt go to the lake bc of the rain, oh well. after that we had a little bit of free time i think and then went to chapel, devotion time, and bed!
Monday we woke up, went to breakfast, then went back to the cabin to get ready since we had first breakfast, and then went down for chapel. After chapel we had a trust walk, we hiked up the mountain, blind-folded then stopped at this rocky area and sat and talked...then it started down pouring so we hurried and hiked to the alpine tower, had lunch, but it was too wet to climb, so then we went to rustic, took a nap, played ultimate Frisbee, and i got stung on the back of the neck... yeah let me tell you...it felt good...ha. After that we hiked back and to camp, with callie and ashley (counselors) blindfolded... and it was free time. me and andy were suppose to meet each other at the baseball field but he wasnt there wen i went and obviously i wasnt there wen he went so he left...i guess we were late hiking back. after free time we went to dinner, and singing on the porch where me and andy hung out again and he told me that he waited at the baseball field and i wasnt there so he went to play basketball...so we decided our new meeting spot was in the holland building. after singing on the porch was all camp, which was watching sandlot, which my living group missed because we went to sparrowwood for a VIP dance, yayuh! then we went on our section swim in the ice cold pool...after that we got dressed and went to chapel, devotion, and bed!
Tuesday we had 2nd breakfast, chapel, and then we hiked to summit. The kids there this week were pretty cool… unlike last year when they wouldn’t like even talk to us. Me and mere also saw james, our counselor from last year. We had lunch with them and played capture the flag and painted the sparrowwood sign. We hiked back around 2 or 3 for all camp, which we got 3rd place in! YAYUH! Girls represent foo! LoL… after all camp was free time and me and andy hung out, then we walked up to the porch for dinner, then singing on the porch. We had free time till 7:45, which we then went to the chapel for Dr. Dale!! Actually I don’t know how to spell his name, obviously that’s not write but oh well… if anyone from camp knows tell me. But he was amazing, it reminded me of being home at like wild bills…just a Christian version. Andy was my dance partner for one song that he told us to have a dance partner… that was a great night, I was really able to be my goofy self… just like I am at home. I had a blast. After that our living group went up to mountain top, did our god books by candle light, and then tried to hike down the mountain with just the candle light… I fell and scratched my ankle…and so did a lot of ppl and poured wax all over their hand, but mary Margaret fell and sprained her ankle and almost started a forest fire. Lesson learned! Then we had chapel, devotion, and bed, once again.
Wednesday we went on a creek hike after breakfast and chapel, which the creek was FREEZING cold... it wasn’t even funny. After our creek hike we had a little bit of free time, but we had to get ready n meet at the bridge to go to our surprise living group with alan which was a lot of fun!! We built a fort, made up a lang, and threw water balloons at a target..one popped on me when I was trying to tie it. After that we had free time, then dinner, and then we had babapalooza or w/e its called…which a band and a bunch of toy things and me and andy hung out all throughout that… and then our section had camp out!! We slept in the cagle center since it rained, which was nice, and I met some new people. We got smores and went to bed listening to peter peter.
Thursday we woke up and packed our stuff and went back to camp, went to breakfast, then chapel, and then our living group went with a buncha other all girl living groups and had a talent show…my living group did a dance, ha it was great. GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN!...RIVERDANCE! hahaha wow I loved it, to im not very good at river dancing. After that it was free time and I went and got my hair braided, then I went to the gym to watch andy play basketball then we walked to the dining hall and had lunch/. My living group ate packout on the porch just for a good laugh. After lunch was nap time, and I loved every minute of it. After nap time we went and worked on our god books, then had free time… and I hung out with andy of course, then it was dinner time, after dinner we sang on the porch, and then went to coffee house and I sat with andy mere nikki and mary…omg that was hilarious… esp annie and callie doing pam and jan! and meridiths act. After coffee house my section got popsicles… and then chapel… chapel was soo emotional. I was bawling when they played peter peter and then mere started to cry and so were sitting there hugging each other bawling and callie comes up and hugs and then mere lets go and callie is still hugging me while I bawl and she prays in my ear which was really sweet…all she said and all. So yeah I was crying during chapel and devotion because I didn’t want to leave camp at all and it flew by so quick. After that I went to the clinic bc I had a head ache…and mere got stuff bc she got stung by a yellow jacket at coffee house. Our living group went back to our cabins and every1 is ashleys cabin was eating till 2 am and playing with fake epi pens…. Lesson learned… Lauren went and jammed the fake epi pen in sara’s leg…only…it wasn’t fake…it was her real one, on total accident of course…which was funny…she was fine…but spent the whole night in the clinic to be monitored…from 2 am to 7:30.
Friday they woke us up, blind folded us, took us down to the dinning hall deck, and hten we took the blind folds off and it was breakfast with candles…how sweet of them. It was pretty good just I never can eat that early in the morning. after that we got ready, cleaned and packed our stuff up, went and made friendship bracelets, then we went to lunch…. After lunch we went and packed more, then did frog kisses, and communion in the chapel…which was hilarious bc Ashley spilt the grape juice on mary and we were like cracking up through the whole thing. After communion was free time, the last one, which me and andy hung out on the dinning hall porch while he finished up some of my food I brought to camp. We went to dinner and had pizza, then the Holland building for celebration. I didn’t wanna go home, well I did… but I didn’t wanna leave all the people. Especially andy, I really didn’t wanna let go of him when I had to say bye to him… because it will probably be like at least 3 months before I see him? Yeah that sucks. So yeah our parents picked us up… and that was the end of my week. That’s actually in a nut shell…so much more exciting things happened I just really don’t wanna type it all.
