i've seen it with my own eyes
shit, i dont remember what i wrote in here last time. i would hate to repeat... that would just look foolish. the summer of success continues for your good friend the lancer. today in the mail he received his first contract for work. i am going to be a full time instructor at Northern. which is pretty sweet for several reasons which i will attempt to list:
1) it is a full time gig. i dont have to do any stupid adjunct crap.
2) it is teaching at a major university. granted, there is more money in the junior/community college jobs... but it will set me up to get one of those in a few years.
3) to me, it will seem like a lot of money. apparently, NIU pays more than starbucks does.
4) i live here. i dont have to move. i dont have to get a car. i can continue working to work which is something i really love doing. i also have friends in the department as well as some professor that i really like and will enjoy getting to know better. that number 4 was more like 5 reasons in itself.
5) the job itself. a) i really do love to teach math. b) the college schedule rocks. c) i'll be able to do all kinds of cool things with the time off... or maybe just stay inside and watch sports.
alright, i am done with this list. time to continue enjoying my little vacation that i have before i start work.
