It's officially the start of 2005 ... what a year. Well, I hope it will be a "what a year" type year!! Everything seems to be moving forward, so should we reflect on 2004, or just move on? I guess we should so some reflecting ... why not right?
Started the year 2004 the right way ... being elected Student Body Vice President at Central Michigan University. Can you believe, a first year transfer student, the Vice President of the student body?? It was exciting to say the least. A few weeks later, a bid to join the Phi Kappa Tau social fraternity. Taking 16 credits, working at the Volunteer Center, being the Vice President and rushing a fraternity took a lot out of me. It was a very rough second semester at CMU, but very worth it. I gained a friend too. I should say, I got a friend back. We had been on a two year ... break? It took a little time to heal some old wounds, and they did, finally, at the Windsor Classic Indoor Games for the Disabled, and my 20th birthday. Also during this time, I was also campaigning to be the next Student Body President at CMU ... losing by a few hundred votes, coming in second out of three tickets. As a consolation, and because of my love for public relations, I was appointed and confirmed Press Secretary. Still a great post to serve the student body.
As for the summer of 2004 ... a family vacation out East ... my first since the 11th grade. It was a great time, as we also stopped in New York City for a short stay. Immediately after coming home from this vacation, went out to Connecticut for the National Championships for athletes with physical disabilities, where I learned I would serve as the Chair for the 2005 games, to be hosted in Michigan!! Other than these two trips, the summer consisted of work, and video games!!
Changed my goals and living arrangements for the fall of 2004 ... living in Park Place with Amanda and Sean. Instead of focusing solely on Student Government or the Volunteer Center, I also decided more time was needed for my roomies and my brothers. I am hopeful that was a mission success. I was elected Fundraising Chairman for the fraternity, as well as the Vice President for External Affairs for the InterFraternity Council. For more details on the year 2004, see some of my pictures:
http://community.webshots.com/user/lewis1jj The main highlight of 2004, though, was Amanda Cotter and the relationship that the two of us have been working on and building on. 2004 ended on a high note, with my giving her a promise ring after dating for roughly four months. I can say that she is the love of my life ...
Now, when looking at the year 2005 ... the spring semester is again going to be tough, taking a total of 26 credits; 18 at CMU and 8 at LCC. At this pace, I will graduate CMU in December, with a major in history and a minor in political science. I am also looking into buying a cabin in Roscommon, a nice three bedroom cabin. This year looks to be an amazing year, if everything goes according to plan. I do plan on getting into "shape" and getting out of debt!! Some goals huh? I also plan on taking a little brother in the fraternity, to help him learn all of the ideals of Phi Kappa Tau.
With all that being said, and my first post in two month ... later world. Happy New Year ...
