Prometheus, WE HAD TO WAIT TWO DAMNED MONTHS!!

So I made a pause in my gay-short movie watching to go to the cinema and watch my long-desired Alien "non-prequel" Prometheus, which opened last Friday in Spain. As an Alien universe fan who even loved Alien Resurrection, I confess I have enjoyed this movie from beginning to end. The fact that the huge screen was so close made me feel completely inside even in 2D.

Script deficiencies? They are there alright, to be sure. Damon Lindelof (Lost)'s hand was there, and some people expected coherent, satisfactory answers and development!? Really!? I expected what I saw, or less. It could have been 10 times better with little effort, indeed. Like the world we live in, in general. Some people just don't bother making things better when they can be just "good enough" for the masses. I still haven't forgiven Ridley Scott for his shitty, boring Robin Hood. But I am glad he made this movie. It keeps many of the Alien saga elements I adore.

We even got random funny relationships like that of a crazy, useless biologist crushing on a crazy, useless geologist and following him around like a puppy in several scenes until both get lost and have to spend a night alone together outside, and all the captain tells them from the ship before disappearing to enjoy some night sex of his own is "Try not to bugger each other". ("Intentad no daros por culo".)

There is no running away from the theme.

The other day I happened to watch The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel for the Elderly and Beautiful, with a wonderful elderly cast, and one of the central stories was that of a gay man from a good family (Tom Wilkinson) who returns to India after a 40-year absence to look for the man he used to love as a young boy, until they were found out and separated, to the other man's, a poor native, humilliation.

I do try to watch other things, you see, but the theme follows me everywhere.

And I love it.
