Satanada
To Tezuka: "Why... so... serious!!?"
Faces like this one made the final games look indeed like a battle between good and evil: this is the demon that torments the martyr, who is once again sacrificing his limbs for the good of the team. See the black smoke fingers on the left? That's Yukimura's influence.
They call Yukimura "God's son" (Kami no ko, but what if he were actually an EVIL God's son? Or the PoT equivalent to Voldemort? Remember
Voldiemura, picture number 66 by chance in Ouca31's Hanaichimonme?
Kami-no-ko has always sounded to me like Camino-ko.
Camino is a Spanish movie about "a girl who died from spinal cancer at fourteen in 1985 and is currently in process of canonization". Look at the girl's pic in the entry and try to imagine her with a hospital-green pijamas instead.
Perhaps Yukimura was just a tormented boy who wanted to get out of hospital so badly, but couldn't stay away for long, that it ended up twisting his soul.
Random unoriginal cocktail theory:
Yukimura never really survived surgery. He was about to make it, but as soon as he heard that Sanada had let Ryoma and Seigaku win prefecturals, the machine that does *ping* *beep* went into dead-tone mode and the doctors couldn't revive him. Not even when his desperate teammates took his body to the fountain of a Japanese temple said to heal people. It was too late for him, even after two full hours had passed, and every member of Rikkai had tried the mouth-to-mouth and/or the bitchslap to the face, repeatedly.
At the other side, where the moss is greener on the rocks, Yukimura was already going towards the light, riding the boat that all dead people ride, when he realized he couldn't go yet, not without winning the Nationals for the third consecutive time. So he jumped into the water to escape, but it was less than one-foot deep, so he hit his head in the process and drowned into the light instead.
The next thing he knew, he was back in the hospital, surgery had been a complete success, and he could hear Kirihara at the other side of the wall, bursting into tears right after hearing the defeat news. Yukimura smiled to himself: he had a plan now.
When Yagyuu later told Kaidoh that Yukimura was doing fine in rehabilitation, he omitted the fact that their bucho was not the boy he used to be anymore. He'd turned into something evil, something ruthless. It is evidenced by the fact that the three players who had LOST in prefecturals, the three closest to him, became maniacal, red-faced diabolic or radically cold-blooded during these final games. The three of them won this time, but at a price, for both themselves and their rivals. The other members had been spared prior punishment and could lose peacefully, except for Niou, who suffered a multiple-personality disorder from which he hasn't recovered yet.
In the end, and in spite of all his diseasing efforts, losing against Ryoma made Yukimura realize the error of his ways. He will now diminish, go back into Kanagawa and remain Seiichi. THE END. (I wish!)
