Kaido & Momo
The Prince of Tennis
This is a MomoKai doujinshi. Number 3 of a series of which I only own this one. It includes chapters 5 and 6, drawn by two different artists, and both seem self-conclusive. Pretty much worksafe, but I'd like to give a forewarning on the art style.
One of the best things about doujinshi is that you get to read about the same characters depicted visually and verbally by a great variety of artists. And artists, like fanfiction writers, have many ways to express the characters' feelings. Now, there must be as many different readers as there are artists, and each reader is looking for something in a story, which can vary depending on the mood. And whereas I can enjoy smut like the very next perv...son, I usually prefer a more elaborated story, better expressed, even without needing to resort to sex in the end.
Also, while I can be picky about the art style, many times I have been surprised by the awesomeness of simply drawn stories, with a language of its own. Which tell so much with just a few lines for the right expression. And I think this is one of those stories. Specially in today's part, the art is so irregular that at times looks like a collection of sketches pasted together to conform a story.
Then there is the language of a doujinshi story, of the words combined with the movement, the looks, the expressions. It is something that can prove the overall quality of the piece better than many samples of pretty boys with just juicy bow-chick-a-bow-bow that takes place after an often ridicule excuse. I didn't realize until a few months ago, when I started reading doujinshi in earnest, what a difference it makes when not only the plot, but also the narrative style is given as much importance as the art itself, or even more.
I know, though, that you need to know Japanese to appreciate it, and that not many stories are scanlated nowadays. If my day had 28 hours, I would scanlate one a day, but It is just not possible. So we'll have to settle for once in a while and the hope in more people scanlating different things everytime, more frequently.
That said, I really hope you enjoy this story. And PLEASE, feel free to comment on anything that sounds amiss, as I am not a native English speaker.
Last note: once again, I know the fandom prefers to write it "Kaidoh", but I just can't, because it never fails to make me think of certain

here. Sorry!
As I was scanning this doujinshi I thought how it reminded me of a fanfiction story I had read recently, in which Kaido also sewed for a teammate, until I was provided with the answer: It was
Fascination, InuKai. By another artist of the good narrative style.
At this point I have no doubt that Inui poisoned Momo on purpose during their doubles game in the Jousei Arc. He had sufficient data from the manga to know that the MomoKai was brewing, and he had to put a stop asap. He might not have seen Kaido twirling his fingers around the phone cord while asking Momo out for training-date, but I am sure he felt the pressure on his shoulders. He knew that it was not only the team and his own unresolved game with Renji what was in stake: it was Kaido's love as well. And he kept it, as proven by the towel-trophy, popular and eternal symbol of the InuKai.
I now wonder if Kaido had embroidered some "I love you" in the towel, a la Captain Tsubasa ;D
Ok, to be continued tomorrow ::points to icon:: With some more pimping as well.
I hope this resulted in a coherent post, for I am way too tired to think beyond what I had been wanting to say for days.
