survey of doom

Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?

He's not thin, that's not the word. Levi isn't fat, isn't skinny, somewhere in the middle, like he was more heavyset as a child and worked off the extra fat. He's also pretty tall, around 6'1 or so, and enjoys that fact.

2. How old is he?

He looks about in his mid-twenties, having been turned when he was 26. However, he's been around since 1901, so he's actually about 108 years old. Almost 109.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?

Levi was born into the 1920s, which is actually around the time that the people of the United States let their postures go to hell. "Before the 1920's people in the United States stood with their spine, pelvis and legs on the same axis, with their body weight upright and vertical, as in the picture at left. In the 1920's, there was a shift in fashion. Think of the posture of the flappers. They stood stylishly, with their pelvis shifted forward." (Overview of Balance)

This means that while Levi does his best to stand up straight (especially when around people he respects, or wants to impress) sometimes he does slouch. He's not really all that concerned with posture, because he's a party animal, not a high-class entertainer.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?

He's... uh, dead. But other than that, he's fantastic, in shape, has all those vampire fun things.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?

Levi's very fluid. He doesn't trip ever, is always very loose and relaxed, and sort of glides when he walks. He's very light-footed. The way he walks is sort of lazy, though he is on guard; he just makes it look like he couldn't care less.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?

Oh, Levi knows he's attractive. He doesn't think he's the hottest thing in the room, but he knows that he's pretty good looking, and he'll use it to his advantage if he needs to. The way he talks about it could be seen as arrogant though, if you don't know him very well. He's confident, is all.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?

Very, very pale. He's dead, so he doesn't get blemishes or any of that, and he's very happy about that fact, considering when he was young, he had crappy skin.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.

Most of the time it looks like this or this. Usually the latter, because that's how his hair falls naturally, and he likes it that way. It's black, and he doesn't really mess with the color too much. It's also very thin and soft.

9. What color are his eyes?

Levi protests the picture of him without make-up, but they're this color. They're a soft kind of blue, almost gray.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?

Not really.

11. What are his chief tension centers?

His shoulders.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?

HOO BOY. Levi is a fashion queen, and a lot of the stuff he likes to wear is outrageous. He loves black, so the majority of his clothes are black, but he loves to throw in random colors, too, so it can be pretty varied. Also, he LOVES jewelery. There's usually at least three or four rings on each hand, loads of necklaces, bracelets, stuff like that. He likes flashy, glittery things, so he stands out. In Taxon, though, he's not quite as flashy. In style, but not flashy. These are a few of the outfits he wears in Taxon:

one. two. three. four.

I am lazy. Look up "Adam Lambert outfits" on google and take your pick. Except for the ones that are like this. Obviously he doesn't go around wearing that every day.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?

They fit extremely well, in more ways than one. They're usually tight, form-fitting, and they also fit his personality very well. He's very comfortable in his clothes, as well as his own skin, and he's not afraid to show it off.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?

Well... uh. Not really.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?

COMMANDO. He... uh, well, he doesn't wear underwear that often. It's a habit. But if he does, he's a boxers kind of guy.

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?

Kind of high pitched? Watch this. It's not very long, and it gives you a good idea of his normal talking voice, along with a few laughs and such. Also, bonus Shane. 8D

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?

Loud and evenly. Levi doesn't ever really hesitate on what he's saying, doesn't go "uh," or "er," or anything like that very often. The way he speaks is a weird combination of old timey speech and modern, which makes sense, considering he's a vampire. Imagine people from the 1920's speaking, and then add in modern day lingo.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?

Levi emphasizes things a lot, like: "Please do not ever let me catch you wearing that," and such. He also starts a lot of his sentences with 'oh', like "Oh, honey, don't worry about it." Also also, he tends to call people things like 'honey', or 'sweetheart' or even 'baby', depending on his mood.

If you're talking to him for the first time, you'll be able to pick on his flamboyancy very quickly.

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?

English, and with a lot of fluency. He likes using big fancy words, and he's able to get what he wants to say across with a good amount of coherency.

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?

Nope.

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?

I'd say he's pretty good at impromptu speeches. A lot of what Levi says comes straight from his brain, so he doesn't have much of a filter. Which... does get him into trouble sometimes.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?

Eloquent. If he's severely freaked out, injured, or something has happened to send him into his emo-state, he can be pretty incoherent. For an example, see when Shane arrived at Taxon.

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?

Levi's pretty smart, but not genius level. He's got an equal amount of book smarts and street smarts, though he is very knowledgeable regarding the club life. I guess that counts as street-smart.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?

Depends. If there's trouble, he's on his feet and moving. For instance, there was a thread a while back that was done with him where Shane was kidnapped by humans who wanted to turn Shane back into a human, and Levi flipped the fuck out. If someone he loves is in danger, he throws caution to the wind and just goes.

But most of the time, when he's able to think, he'll plan the shit out of everything.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?

Levi's more of the romantic type. Since he was young (like human young) he's always wanted to sweep some person off their feet and treat them like royalty. A lot of his hopes and dreams are all very grand and majestic, and his life isn't any kind of serious business so he usually lives those hopes and dreams out. Levi's much more of a idealistic person (using the "swooping in and saving Shane" thing as an example).

4. What kind of education has the character had?

He dropped out of college, but mostly because he was more into the party-scene than education, not because he's unintelligent. And it wasn't like his parents cared.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?

... Well, he's good at partying? If you're looking for a host for your party, Levi's your man. And as for learning more, history! Taxon is basically giving his inner history nerd an orgasm, because of all the people from times older than he is.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?

EXTROVERT. Oh my god, extrovert.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?

Levi's a generally cheerful person, has an easygoing nature that makes him pretty easy to get along with. Everything he does is big and grand, and it's been said more than once that he's pretty flamboyant.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?

Enthusiastic, definitely. Levi loves meeting new people and coaxing them out of their shells if they're shy. He's the one who adjusts the fastest to being thrown into a brand new environment, like Taxon. He slipped into Taxon life very easily.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?

React.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?

Actually, surprisingly? Fight. Must be a vampire thing.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?

... Honestly, Levi likes pervy jokes. He makes them a lot, too. Like, for instance, if someone shoves him against a wall, he will most likely respond with a, "Oh, hello, big boy~" or something similar.

A lot of the time he makes those kinds of jokes to make people uncomfortable. He's an ass like that.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?

Nooope.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?

His death and his turning, meeting Ethan (and having his lunch stolen from him), meeting Shane. The last one is probably the biggest moment.

14. What does he fear?

Being alone, death (mostly because he doesn't want to leave Shane alone), being regarded as a freak (even if he says he doesn't care).

15. What are his hopes or aspirations?

Nothing really pressing at the moment. Though he would like to get Ethan to admit he likes Levi.

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?

That he was a total slut when he was alive (he slept with so many people, ohgod, you have no idea). Also, the extent that he would go to to keep Shane alive(which is a lot). He doesn't want people to use that against him.

Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.

Terrible. He hated his parents and they didn't care much for him either. He was the oldest child, and his parents expected a lot out of him. Instead, he graduated school with average grades, dropped out of college, was gay, and stayed out all night. His parents gave up on him around the point that he turned eighteen. The funeral they had for him was bare minimum.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?

He had two younger siblings, Josephine and Thomas, that were around twelve years younger than he was. They were twins, and his mother and father adored them, much more than Levi, because they were the "perfect children". Levi didn't care about them, wasn't even home most of the time.

Really, Levi's family liked to pretend he didn't exist.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?

He didn't really like any of his family.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?

Desdemona Delacroix, a younger vampire from Vegas. Des and Levi met in a club a while back, and immediately clicked. Levi's incredibly protective of her, and thinks of her as a little sister. More often than not, when Levi feels like being irresponsible, he calls her up and they go to a club for meal-seeking.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?

Ethan Ford, actually. I'm not counting Shane because Shane is a different story. But yeah, Ethan is probably Levi's best friend, though Ethan won't admit it. They met because Ethan stole Levi's lunch, Levi went out to go yell at him, found out he was a vampire as well, and... well, the rest is history.

6. Does he have other close friends?

He's working on it in Taxon, like with Godric and Cordelia, but really, in his original universe, he has Shane, Des, Ethan, and Ethan's little sister Clara. That's really all, as far as close goes.

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?

He can make friends very easily. A lot of his friends tend to be girls, actually, because he's more on their level when it comes to things in common, but he doesn't have any trouble finding at least something to socialize about with everybody.

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?

Friends, which are basically his family anyway.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?

Uh, none of the above, though he is in love.

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?

Yes, with Shane.

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?

His first crush was this one boy, way back from when he was human. They had a summer fling sort of thing, and he loved the guy to bits, but then he started getting too attached, and the guy broke up with Levi. His latest crush (and it is firmly staying a crush) is Godric.

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?

A good sense of humor, someone who doesn't mind his flamboyance and even likes it, someone who is laid back, kind, generous, sweet. As for appearance, he has a type: short, brunette, and cute. "Guy next door" type.

... /coughshanebasicallycough

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?

... Do fledglings count? Because yes, in that case, he has LOTS of children. They're more like minions, though. Like, they work for him and clean his house and... well, live there, too.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?

Dr. Remington? He hasn't met him yet, but when he does, he will be like FFFFF HATRED FOREVER.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?

Probably something like a 5 or 6. He likes boys, but he won't say no if there is a woman who is his type and he clicks with her.

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?

Levi loves sex, okay? Probably more than he should. Right now, he's only getting it on with Shane regularly (which is fine with him), but before Shane came around (and by that I mean pre-Taxon), Levi had a different boy every night. He was a slut, I am telling you right now.

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?

Hair touching, as in like, pulling it, grabbing it, running fingers through it. Also, biting, which, lol, no surprises there, and... probably nice asses, really. Turn offs... complete stupidity, beards, and generally manly men. He's not attracted to the whole buff lumberjack thing. And I'm not going into weird bedroom habits.

Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?

He's an Aquarius.

While obviously there are some bits that don't quite fit, a lot of it is pretty accurate. For example: "Aquarius are filled with paradoxes, they are interested in the opposite ends of the spectrum, they like to be alone yet are social butterflies, they like to experience both sides and see both opinions as they formulate new ideas with their forward thinking, active mind. Aquarius have a 'live and let live' policy where everyone is free to be themselves, an Aquarius never judges others because as human beings, we are all equal and entitled to our own opinions."

more here.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?

Definitely not religious. Levi doesn't give a crap either way.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?

Definitely. He won't fight those who can't fight back, and he basically lives by the "do to others what you would like to be done to you" rule, or the Golden Rule. So if you attack him, he'll attack you, etc.

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?

He's tolerant, sometimes curious as well. Most of the time he doesn't really care, but he'll listen.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?

Uhm... well, he hates homophobes, for good reasons. Other than that, he doesn't really do the grudge thing.

Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?

I'd say rich. He has a big-ass mansion, his minions all give him about a third of their salaries that they get (however they get it is not Levi's concern) and he never worries about money, much. He doesn't need it, most of the time.

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?

Levi's known as the end-all of vampire parties. Despite his young age, he's pretty well known, mostly for his basement and the incredibly wild stuff that goes down in that basement. He's earned it over time, and is very proud of his status.

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?

This big-ass mansion. It's his home-base, his party palace, and he adores it. This is where he spends a majority of his time. He does share it with others-- Shane is the only one who consistently lives there, but it's like a hotel, as well. Traveling vampires stay there while waiting for night time, others just hang out there when they have nothing better to do. The house is usually always housing at least ten or so vampires at a time.

Levi also has a fuckton of minions (meaning, people he's turned) who clean his house and basically live there as well, so there's that.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?

Clothes. Gifts for Shane. Hair products. Reeeeally frivolous things.

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?

He's a vampire, so he's pretty damn good at that. He enjoys being a party host, too.

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?

Levi likes reading, so he does quite a bit of that. He also likes sex, so there's... y'know, that going on. He's got a lot of things he does, he just switches them around a lot. When you're around for that long, things get boring quick.

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?

BLOOOOOOD. He really likes type O blood, though he isn't picky. And he eats whenever he damn well pleases~
