UPD: Обновлённый, и более полный рассказ о том, как правильно посетить ПетруО Петре я никогда не слышал, пока не начали с Мойшей планировать поездку в Израиль. Но это место меня поразило больше всего из всей поездки. Может даже из всех поездок года. Leva, where did you stay while in Petra? I kak vi tuda/ottuda dobiralis? I'm trying to decide whether to get to Petra from Amman or rather go to Israel and then go to Petra from Eilat...

We came in from Eilat, took a taxi to Petra, then from there, a taxi to Amman to fly to Cairo. Both taxi trips took about two hours (give or take 30 minutes). and cost about 40-50 euro.

If you go, make sure you have a whole day to spend exploring the park. We didn't - crossing the border in Eilat around 10am, we got to Petra around noon, and only hit the park at 1:30pm. Even though we stayed the night, and went in bright and early next morning, we had to catch a flight in the early evening, and had to leave the park around 2 o'clock.

We stayed in a hotel in the nearby town - I think it's called Wadi Moussa. I think there are a lot of hotels, all bookable online. Can't remember or recommend ours (thought it was OK, but nothing spectacular). We were there on Christmas and marked the occasion with a trip to the Hamam. An interesting experience with a strong medieval vibe.
