Thought about an older project whilst at work today and decided to write the prologue of a novel idea down. I've been planning on writing it for over two years, but never actually did anything.
~Stranger From The Shadows~
An excerpt from 'The Outcasts'
This place....what is it? Where am I?
Darkness swirled around the form of a young man in a seemingly infinite abyss. The darkness was like a deadly miasma, swallowing everything, an aura of malevolence surrounded him. The young man looked terrified, his shoulder length crimson hair bristling slightly, his dark blue gaze darted back and forth nervously, as if searching for a way out.
"You are lost in the darkness, boy."
An eerie, almost chilling voice rang out among the infinite darkness. Seconds later, a figure stepped forth, a silver haired man enshrouded by a black cloak walked towards the teenager. The tattered edges of the cloak fluttered ever so slightly.
"Who are you?"
The teenager asked, his gaze concentrating upon this stranger. The silver haired man smiled faintly, his slitted pupils looked the teenager over, scrutinizing him as he thought about the question.
"An ally, you could say. I could help you escape this darkness."
The teenager's eyes widened slightly, wanting to be out of this god forsaken pit as soon as possible. Then he realized the man's lips weren't even moving. The voice was in his head.
"Can you really help me?"
He asked, curious, but somehow terrified of this man. The man's cold gaze continued to watch over the teenager as the darkness continued to swarm around them.
"Lend me your hand, and your troubles will all end."
The man coaxed, a slight smirk on his face as he extended a ghostly pale, fragile looking hand. Almost reluctantly, the young man gave the enigmatic stranger his hand, grasping it. A shcok went through him, the hand was freezing cold, as if it were solid ice.
"Don't be afraid, relax. Allow the darkness to slowly overtake you..."
The teenager was still horrified by this nightmarish realm, but did as the man asked, slowly calming down. The darkness around them slowly swarmed over their bodies, as if consuming them.
"That's a good boy."
The silver haired man spoke, smirking. The teenager saw the smirk and wondered if he would later regret his decision. The last thing he saw was a cold, blue, reptilian eye before he knew no more.
