First Entry (Backlog)

Well,

This is my first journal entry. I guess I will start with what has been going on in the past few months. Right now I'm in Baghdad, IQ. I have been here for four months now. Seen people come and go. I work with the Intel community near the Al-Faw Palce which is Saddam Hussein's former home. I'm right down the street from Uday and Qusay's Palaces also. They aren't really spectacular though considering a few cruise missiles hit the backside of them. Within the past couple months all I have really done is lots of work. We work 7 days a week here and 12 hours a day or more. I lived in a tent for about 2 months which sometimes had no air conditioner in 120 degree weather, but I was moved into a small trailer about 2 weeks ago which has AC and lights! Everyday we walk to work to chow and back home in this heat and dust. We have to carry our weapons, which mine is a M16-A2 with at least 60 rounds of ammo. Depending on what time of the month it is we also have to wear our Flak vests (bulletproof Jacket) and our Kevlar (helmet) also, which really sucks to wear in the heat. From time to time we go down town. To talk to the Iraqi Shaykh's which are religious men or Tribal leaders. Sometimes we go to the Iraqi market which has alot of arab merchandise. As far as today goes, nothing has happened. I am still at work. The only highlight of my day is when it's over and I have time to call back home to a few people. Which sometimes I can't even get through cause our phone lines aren't that great. Even though they have a plethra of communication lines we're still not doing that great, communication wise. You think they would have enough sagacious wisdom from Desert Storm but I guess we haven't learned our lesson yet. Well, until next time!
