Why I won't be voting for Obama.

Nov 01, 2008 22:54

Last week, I shocked a friend of mine on facebook when stated in my
status that I feared Senator Obama would be elected President. He sent
me a comment asking me why I thought so and I promised him that I
would right a post all about it. This is that post. Keep in mind that
I'm not trying to change anyone's vote. Just consider this an
unabridged look on how I make my judgments in elections.

1. Abortion. As a believing catholic, "abortion rights" and the other
life issues are of the highest concern. The church has constantly
taught that life begins at conception ever since science has allowed
us to see what conception actually is. So, any premature ending of
that life is murder. Some claim that means we're giving more rights to
the fetus than the mother. But, I say that we should work to help the
mother as wells o that she does not feel a need to kill her child and
encourage virtue and abstinence so people don't become parents before
they can maturely enter into a relationship to support children. I
know there's more to this question, and I answer more questions about
it if anyone is interested.

Barak Obama completely fails in my eyes on the abortion issue. He
claims to be against third term abortions, but he is one of the few
senators to think it's ok to let a child die once it's born if the
abortion was botched. Also, the current state of the pro-choice vs
pro-life issue isn't at "Should abortion be illegal?" Unfortunately,
we're way beyond that. It's at the point where the question on the
table, "Should parents be told if their children decide to get an
abortion?" Also, despite the lip service, I doubt Obama would do
anything to limit abortion to the first 6 months because that would
weaken the left's position to keep in legal in the first place. So, if
you think parents should be notified and want to ban partial birth
abortions, you should vote pro-life.

2. He refuses to salute the American Flag, sometimes. If you don't
believe me, check out snopes:
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/anthem.asp
The article reports that sometimes he does and sometimes he doesn't.
All this tells me is that he's either inconsistent and gets caught on
whims or that he does thing depending on who's watching him and when.
Either way, I don't feel safe with a president that ever refuses to
salute the flag because it shows a lack of loyalty to the country.

3. He has attached himself to domestic terrorists and preachers of
hate in his past. Both of which he threw under the bus (with his
grandmother) the very moment they became politically unviable. Some
try to defend him by saying he wasn't close to Ayers and Wright. But
the facts remain that he started his campaign at Ayers' house and he
chose to be a member of Wright's church and talked about how inspiring
he is.

4. He accuses others of racism while he practices ageism. At the
beginning of his run, he kept putting words in his opponents like, "He
does look like those other presidents on the dollar bills." That was
annoying enough. But, now at this stage, he thinks it's ok to doubt
McCain's ability to lead because of his age, forcing Palin to be more
of a an issue than she actually is. I know this is politics as usual,
but it's very annoying especially since he claims to be the bearer of
new politics.

5. When debating, he states goals rather than plans. It's easy to
sound right when you only say specific plans when forced to.

6. He believes in the redistribution of wealth. I would think most
people would tax because they have some goal in mind they need money
for. Obama wants to tax the rich because they don't deserve their
money. His use of class warfare rhetoric that rich people keep the
poor from succeeding goes against the grain of capitalism. Not that
capitalism is perfect, but it's way better than communism-lite.

7. Refuses to drill for oil. Allowing oil companies to drill for
domestic oil would be a great benefit to all Americans and make us
less dependent on Middle Eastern countries. Within 30 years, we'll
have the technology to be incredibly efficient with this oil or phase
its use completely. So, why not use it now?

Ok, obviously no candidate is perfect and I can't predict the future.
But, these are almost all major problems that just disqualifies him in
my mind. If you think I've erred in any of my conclusions, feel free
to post back. As always, if I'm wrong I want to know.

God Bless and Happy All Saints Day!
