King is so very all over the place... although just from the looks of them, the newest stuff is safely in the "bad" category. Something about a killer cell phone...?!?!
Maybe he watched Transformers one too many times??
It will be an evil cell phone possessed by a demon who will have to be vanquished by a small, Jesus-like child and a knowledgable old man. (Warning: these pairings may vary to include Molly Ringwald, a mouse, an old Indian, tak, an old Black Woman who lives in a cornfield, children with names that end in things like 'alachai', and/or Gary Sinise)
I'm revising my statement after reading the plot on stephenking.com:
See above, combined with King admiring the thespian efforts of Mark Walberg one too many times in "The Happening" while simultaniously reading the Manchurian Candidate... if it's not angry trees or ornery communist operatives, it's a bunch of pissed off cell phones.
Damn.
It doesn't shock me that he used cell phones to start a zombie epidemic though... that's what King does best... makes everyday things into something creepy.
Speaking of Lovecraft, have you heard of the new movie version Call of Cthulhu? It is a modern movie but made like a 1920's silent film. It's pretty cool and does a decent job getting the creepy vibe.
