i finally got to watch this movie that ive been waiting/obsessing for, for almost a year a year now since its debut at the sundance festival. ok i cheated and caught it online. but i swear to watch it on opening day this week. getting my tickets booked tomorrow. i love indie films, and this one particularly, did not disappoint. sure, it didnt really have the perfect happy ending but a movie with two of my favourite actor and actress of all time? that sure takes the cake.
i think somehow Summer and Tom in this film is a representation of a stage or place in life where everyone gets to eventually, when you're with the person that is the person before you're meant to be with. everyone has probably been a Summer or a Tom, or will be at least. this movie is very different from the stereotypical cliche ideas of romance. i reckon this movie could be the touchstone for every sensitive man. besides, its about time they created a heartbreak movie for men.
500 days of Summer opens this week, starring Joseph Gordon Levitt and Zooey Deschanel.
however, 'you should know upfront, this is not a love story'.
