“Ikhwan” is a word you will see more and more. This Arabic term “the Brothers” is the shorthand name for the Muslim Brotherhood. I would expect that in the next few years, it may be almost as recognized as their word for conquering and killing all of us: “jihad.”
The word is certainly well known in the Obama administration.
http://www.dehavelle.com/So are other Arabic terms. For example:
One bit of Arabic refers to the city most call Jerusalem, but to them it means a Jerusalem from which all traces of non-Muslim heritage have been removed. Jihadists call it “al Quds” (for “The Holy”) as opposed to the official Arabic for Jerusalem, which is Ûrshalîm. Jihadists and their sympathizers reject this official translation, and jihadists look forward to the day that “al Quds” can be purged of Jews and Christians.
But wait, you might say. There are “legitimate” uses of the word, such as the al Quds University in Jerusalem. Indeed, such a university exists … and features as its top program a dedication to jihadist suicide bombers (or “martyrs” as they call them) who successfully kill Israeli civilians as part of the push to remove the Jews:
Abu Jihad Museum for Prisoner Movement
The designation of the museum is in honor of the prince of the martyrs of Palestine, the martyr Khalil Al-Wazir (Abu Jihad), who was martyred in Tunisia on April 16, 1988 and was commander of the Palestinian patron prisoner movement at the stage where the movement has helped to preserve the life of the nation. … There had been to lay the foundation stone in 1999 and Al-Quds University had celebrated by opening officially on the anniversary of the martyrdom leader Abu Jihad on April 16, 2007. And the museum was built by generous funding from the Government of the State of Kuwait and the Arab Fund in Kuwait. …This museum is a serious attempt to reflect the will power and the challenge of the Palestinian people, the people who lived and continue to live the suffering and cruelty of the occupation that has turned his life into a big prison.
http://www.dehavelle.com/So I was intrigued to see someone in the Obama administration use this name for Jerusalem a couple of years ago at a speech at New York University (hosted by an Ikhwan front group). A little blatant, I’d have thought. But this same man described the Muslim Brotherhood as a “non-violent” “secular” organization, and downplayed any religious involvement.
Not that he has a big problem with jihad, of course.
He described jihad a “a holy struggle” that is “a legitimate tenet of Islam.“ This would be bad enough coming from a Congressman; it is as wrong-headed as the Congressman worried that an increased popultion would cause the island of Guam to “tip over” and “capsize.” But the man with such a benign view of Jihadists has been, for years, a key player in defending the US against them. He is Homeland Security Advisor John O. Brennan, described a pundit as “the closest to a JOB that Obama will promote.”
He is so naive, so clueless about world affairs, as to think that jihadists are reasonable people that you can just negotiate with, and that their actions are justifiable and their designation as “terrorists” should be ignored. What punishment do you mete out for someone so demonstratively lost in the notion of defending this country from its most implacable and dangerous current threat?
You make him head of the CIA.
Well, maybe it is because he is, deep down, a diplomatic man of peace, someone who can see a way to resolve conflicts without bloodshed. Clueless, perhaps, but with good instincts? Is that Brennan?
Not quite. He evidently
runs the Obama administration’s assassination group.
Of course, Brennan is far from the Muslim Brotherhood’s biggest defender, despite his high visibility. At the same time that the US media was downplaying the notion of the Ikhwan having any influence over the Obama administration,
a Muslim periodical in Egypt simply documented several active Brotherhood members serving as part of or advisors to the White House and State Department:
A month after Matthews had sneered at the idea that Muslim Brotherhood members were exercising inappropriate influence over American foreign policy; the venerable Egyptian magazine Rose El-Youssef ran an article about the six Muslim Brotherhood operatives, including two in the Department of Homeland Security, who were influencing American foreign policy on the Brotherhood’s behalf.
While Rose El-Youssef had been a pro-government magazine, during the revolution its journalists had locked out the pro-Mubarak CEO and a new editor had been appointed by the Council of Ministers. Nor could the article be characterized as propaganda or even opinion journalism. Shawki simply
laid out the biographical details of the Muslim Brotherhood figures without any trace of indictment or blame.
Shawki listed six men, Arif Alikhan, the assistant secretary of Homeland Security for policy development; and Mohammed Elibiary, a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council. He also listed Rashad Hussain, the U.S. special envoy to the Organization of the Islamic Conference, as well as Salam al-Marayati, co-founder of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, Imam Mohamed Magid, president of the Islamic
http://www.dehavelle.com/Society of North America and Eboo Patel, a member of President Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnerships. Not to mention
Huma Abedin.
The
article carefully avoided drawing any conclusions; the magazine had earlier faced legal charges for “smearing” President Morsi by discussing his outreach to Hamas. Instead the article let the facts about the six men speak for themselves.
This pattern of reward for behavior granted to Brennan is familiar, of course. The president just took a man who:
- was an active communist
- received awards for his speeches denouncing American “imperialism”
- was a leader of a communist front group
- has been punished for cutting deals with communists
- was under surveillance by the FBI as his group (with him present) planned to slaughter fifty Senators with machine guns
- was the man most responsible for the US abandoning our soldiers that were held prisoner in Vietnam
And is
making him Secretary of State. Apparently, the US prisoners of war were abandoned in exchange for a multimillion-dollar-deal between the Vietnamese communists and Kerry’s cousin’s construction company. This was before he began his lucrative “serial marrier” practice on wealthy women. This fellow was almost elected president in 2004 - but it took only four more years to do worse.
